Better to have lost

Better to have lost

A Poem by Csimmons

The lights are out the music has stopped. The liquor has all but worn off and I'm on the down side of my pill hill.
The silent memories of your laugh fills the room and chokes me like toxic smoke.
"I DON'T WANT TO LOVE YOU!!!!"
It plays over and over in my polluted brain.
As I slip into the darkness one last thought
"But you did love me once." And I know that in itself is more than I deserved. Now I'm ready for tomorrow.

From within the thick of it with such texture and clarity a reckoning and a readying.

That's very sweet. Thank you
I love the description you've put into this. And the heart of this is very relatable, and emotional. I've read it a few times.
I actually loved the last line. It's a small sense of hope within a horrible internal battle.

You're welcome. Keep writing, I love your work
The painting brought out in this poem, is emotional,
it's a difficult thing to lose someone you had dedicated your life to at one point.

That means a lot thank you
I appreciate the intention. It hurts to lose someone you thought you knew. I think I would end this with the line "as I slip into the darkness" - but that is just my thought on it. Very thought and emotion provoking - very nice
