Can't see the TreesA Poem by Ink AngelIm really angry today, heres some harsh words about technology. Can’t see the Trees Can’t see
the trees, for the electromagnetic smog. It’s so
thick like pea soup, frying our brains Entering
our bodies through different zones, Upsetting
our meridians and our natural body flow. They call
it progress, Oh is that right! Making us
forget our social skills, how to interact, face to face Losing the
capability to associate Can’t see
the trees losing our way PS, DS,
and the Xbox, there he sits, alone in his room Relishing
in all the doom and gloom, more addicted day, by day. Caught up
in the crossfire of C.O.D on the way, acting out what is actually Happening
miles away, as some poor lad has had his day! Mobile
phones, they are just the best, we can’t even switch off It’s like
we lost the right, twelve missed calls tonight! Actually
I don’t want to speak, I just want to sit here and be....... The drunk
fueled messages, I didn’t think I sent, Oh yes it went! The harsh
words I text and then regretted Hey! But it’s
too late! They are already said. The Kindle,
this ones the saddest of all What
happened to picking up the old book tattered and torn? But yet
such a story to tell. The old
book in the charity shop, smell the pages feel the history, It holds
within its sweet gilt edged pages, All the
hard work, that’s gone into those books, over the years The blood,
sweat and tears. Slipping
away, to be replaced by a tablet. What effect
will this have on the poems and books, we hold so dear. Last but
not least, the vile, mobile phone mast, that’s a blast! Let’s put
it in the middle of a housing estate Give all
the neighbours cancer. It would
be nice if they had their say! Stick it
on top of a block of flats give all the residents a couple Of hundred
quid, live lives for today, or what’s left of it anyway! We need
these things, they are a necessary evil And we do
enjoy them without a doubt, I guess we d be lost without them. But
please don’t lose sight of the trees and all that lies beneath. Get out
and feel the grass under your feet. © 2012 Ink AngelFeatured Review
