It's a shame that some models do become anorexic (which is less of a choice and more of a disorder), because there are people out there who are anorexic because they're severely depressed. These people then get stereotyped - as if they're not eating because they're image-obsessed. Often it starts as frustration with weight, and then it comes a control thing - people like to control things in life, especially if everything else is going wrong; if they can control their weight, then they will. Then, of course, it becomes an out-of-control thing, you know?
Yeah, there's a big problem with children being pushed into adulthood, both by peers and pushy parents. I agree with that. I just don't see anorexia as a choice. It's more of a compulsion. Then again, it sometimes starts as a choice... I don't know. I'm torn on the issue.
Anyway, you got me thinking - a tough thing to do these days! You've written a very poignant poem.

Girls growing up too soon; starving themselves to disappear. Reminds me that we should watch the movie"real women have curves" once more with our daughters. Good poem strong topic
I really agree with your statements here. I personally think it's gone too far. Size zero / six / eight etc is just not healthy. This is a well written piece. Just a couple of comments though - "It’s so cool to be thin, or is this just a whim." - this needs a question mark. As does - "Are they blind, not to see such sadness."
Also - "To be accepting, of such of such atrocities." - did you mean to repeat "of such"? If you did mean to repeat the phrase, it needs a comma between the two.
Other than those minor errors, I thought this was a good, highly relevant poem.

This made me smile :) It targets a serious issue of childrens role models but had a bit of wit in there too.
I'll admit, there are times when I look in the mirror and think, 'If only my love handles were a little smaller' or 'I wish my waist would sinch in that bit more'. But you have to stop and think, 'Where do these visions of my perfect body come from? And is it really all that perfect?'
I absolutely love your message and they way you convey it! I have 3 daughters and I pray that I can help them understand that their beauty was given to them, they own it and have no need for fake "add-ons" or changes. It's so sad to see what girls (and boys) will do to be beautiful, the pressure can be so heavy.
I enjoyed your poem and feel that you created great imagery. I'm going to save this so that my daughters can read it. Girls are way to bold and concerned with things that are too adult for them, it can be so dangerous. I want them to play as long as possible :)
Thank you for sharing! You have done a great job and wrote it so well :)
Can't help but agree. News is that girls are reaching puberty faster, and we tend to get influenced as we grow. It's really sad, how these girls aren't strong enough, or too insecure to believe what they want, rather than what they think the world wants. Point has been elicited well, I don't get why people think starving yourself is cool, the world is indeed changing. But hopefully, with poems like these, those young girls may realize.

Thank you for you review on this rather harsh look at weight loss
I totally agree with this poem. It holds the present truth in it. Girls, nowadays, are appearing as womanly as possible. They just can't wait to reach the ripe age of eighteen. I have missed those shy, thoughtful girls who would just sit and behave but now, the exact opposite is different. They are becoming outrageous. Thanks for this wonderful poem.
