Marilyn

Marilyn

A Poem by Ink Angel
"

"Fame is Fickle" as Quoted by Marilyn

"

Marilyn

“I wanna be loved by you” was all she ever craved.

She sang” Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” with such gusto and zest.

Then came” Happy Birthday Mr. President", ironically announced as the” Late Marilyn Monroe”,

Weakening, struggling, and diminishing before our very eyes.

Inside she was dying, crying out, holding on for dear life,

But someone got to her in the end.

No one seemed to hear her cry........

Such a shame, so many people chose to walk on by.

There are many "Marilyns" in life...Turns out no one notices them either. Too many times eyes look only out of their corners or too the ground and away from the inner pain sensed... Perhaps the mirror of our own reflections in those eyes reveals more than many are capable or willing to admit. This piece brings something into the far far greater than the irony of a wasted life. One love, one life...

I love this tribute to Marilyn an innocent soul in many ways and a simple beautiful person who's short time on earth touched many... God bless you Marilyn wherever you are now X

Thanks for you kind review.
is to bad she was misunderstood and used as a sex icon, when indeed she was a very smart woman. Her down fall was she was very naive and was taken for granted because she loved hard and no one understood the passion with which she loved.
Very nice!

Ah Marilyn, a woman of many layers. I love how you describe her through her songs. And your choice of font is perfect. The opening line is profound- she expressed in song what we all long for.

I loved watching her movies as a young girl. She made quite an impact on us all, as her sad life is still being reflected on so many years after her death.

Her life was a beauty and the beast story, with the beast being the rest of us, and it was no friend to her. As you say, fickle fame.

Wonderfully honest sentiment of most of celebrity life, and the celebrity culture that's developed around it. It's all about the image these days.... Good work!!
