It's called Karma

It's called Karma

A Poem by Ink Angel
"

I wrote this 6 years ago, little did I know ? In Reading this year, four deaths, it is only 18.02.2021 so very heart breaking. Tragic.

"

It’s called Karma

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. What goes around comes around.

My Dads voice going round in my head " it’s called Karma Son” he said.

All the time in the world to sit and think, in this cell, about the boy I stabbed.

The nice guy, the grade A student, gone from this earth.

His mothers tears as she remembers his birth.

All she has now is a black hole, gaping open like the wound below his chest,

The pain inside so deep like a never ending ache.

That boys blood will always be on my hands,

Imprinted, ingrained, into my very skin.

A reminder of what I took from him.

He will always be on my back, for the rest of my life, an extra shadow following me through life.  Sitting in this cell now I ask myself why? Drugged fuelled madness took Mr. Niceguy.

What and idiot I am! And I thought I was such a hard man.

” What goes around comes around comes around” my Dad used to say.

What will be my penance to pay?

I could be simply crossing the road one day and my life snuffed out like a candle,

Struggling to reignite, but then my body looses the fight.

That girl of mine, I’ve left behind if she sticks by me, we will have kids eventually.

I’ll teach them right! Not teach them that it’s big or clever to play with knives.

That’s if I get the chance.  I picture my Dad looking down at me,

“What goes around comes around its called Karma you see”

But now, what’s done is done.

As much as I like to give that boy back, I can’t you see, and no it wasn’t the crack, it was me.  Who knows what destiny holds for me, we shall have to wait and see.....

Very nice play of words. You kept my attention the whole way through. You have captured how we all await karma to repay us for the choices we've made, for what follows us around just waiting for the moment when we least expect it.

"He will always be on my back, for the rest of my life, an extra shadow following me through life."
Very well written.

. this is a powerful piece of writing ... the education system all over the world is somehow failing to address this problem of children turning violent ... perhaps, this issue is simply not being addressed directly and emphatically ... educating children about the impact of bad karma would help especially if children can somehow be taught the importance of peace of mind ... and how ... when a human being commits a crime, the fear of how that crime will impact him / her in the future causes a loss of inner peace and makes living a painful experience ... because one is always afraid of what might happen ... just my thoughts after reading your thought-provoking post ...

You painted the picture well, with your words.
You kept the subject close and didn't allow the reader to venture away.
Good work. Keep writing.

I would like to think that those who take a life have some kind of conscience. Unfortunately, there are some very evil - I hesitate to say people - out there who have no conscience, they only care about themselves. Their Karma will occur after this life. Thanks, Ink Angel, for this more hopeful view at a murderer.
