Lonely HoursA Poem by MadamHatter
The lonely hours fall when
You tell me to sleep And pull yourself free of my arms. When a distance of six inches Feels more than a thousand miles And your soft breathing takes you away. The lonely hours fall when There are no more words for the Waking world. When dreams become your Transient reality and you can Lose yourself in one hundred other lovers. The lonely hours fall when I surrender you To sleep. When I stare into Nothingness And wonder if the body next to mine is really yours. The lonely hours fall when The clock reads too late to be early And far too early to be late. When I lay in the bed we share And feel the loss of your heart As it forsakes me for phantoms that give more than I ever can. The lonely hours fall when You tell me to sleep And pull yourself from my arms. © 2018 MadamHatterFeatured Review
