The Undiscovered CountryA Poem by A.J.2013(?)
The Undiscovered Country
Standing here again, on the wrong side of a windowpane- writing letters in my breath I find myself dreaming of toes dug in the sand, and flesh kissed by the sun of some far off land; dreaming of an exotic drink or two, and conversations I can barely understand
All of this without times strict and pressing reprimand; leading on into starlit skies, above untamed oceans and so many other vast unknowns
and of making the world smaller with carefree and drunken hands,
building frames only some can comprehend; the ones made by pinching waves and stars together, into just one 3x4 picture- no flash required-
yet here I am in this prison of seven years, keeping company with only memories and fever dreams
I wait in limbo- at times hopeless, as if a vessel of the sea somehow stranded all these years In some Saharan wasteland,
a million miles from anywhere I’m supposed to be- consumed by a bitterness I fail to comprehend; haunted by wounds who seem never to mend
here I am wondering, when it’s going to come my time to see all there is to see- whether it be Everything, or just One meant to be-
Here I am wondering when exactly it is that I’ll finally find my Undiscovered Country.
