The Valley of Blood Ravens

The Valley of Blood Ravens

A Poem by Aaron Parker
"

Very much an allegory.

"

There is a place

Where the blood ravens live

In their ugly disgrace

Never to forgive

*

They feed on hearts

Left in the valley

Forsaken of art

In a morbid finale

*

The scarlet raven's maw

Bloody and dark

Has devoured something raw

And has no remark

Except to mercilessly caw

*

It spreads its wide wings

Read to take flight

Do terrible things

And cause great plight

*

It's navy blue eyes

Two unforgiving orbs

Evil it sees while it flies

All to be absorbed

*

It talons grasp

At broken hearts

Around blood vessels clasp

As they come apart

*

The birds live from

Ended loves

Which have succumbed

To the power above

*

The hearts fall

From the purple sky

And the smell calls

As the ravens fly

*

Pebbles fall from the scree

As the fowl sit on the mountain

And among the jet black trees

*

This valley exists in our dimension

It is not of ostentatious pretension

*

A blood raven lives within

Us all

Like a deadly sin

Its evil squawks call
