Always in my heart

Always in my heart

A Poem by The Ink Chapters

I'll remember his eyes,
the way they glowed
I'll miss his smile
Till my heart explodes
I'll hear his laugh
As if he never stopped
I'll miss his skin
I'll remember it soft

Was not a lover
Like this poem may suggest
I'll miss his ginger hair
where it now lays in rest

Was not a fighter
He cared for them all
Quiet and shy,
Yet for others stood tall

An inspiration to many
He led me along
I fought my battles
And he did his best
No longer could breathe
He just wanted to rest

The world took him too soon
He left in his sleep
Always in my heart
My memories to keep
Goodbye my hero,
Goodbye my friend
Breathe easy in heaven
This isn't the end

What a eulogy!

"Breathe easy in heaven
This isn't the end"

Nicely penned. Author's Note makes this piece even more touching and inspiring - be a donor. I'm obscenely healthy for 61, no heart issues, blood pressure, etc. No arthritis or gout, I do, however, have a mouth to rival any fleet that wants to sail into the harbor. See Creative Cussin' and you'll understand.

Again, beautifully done, and depending on what you believe about the afterlife, he may have already read this...

Powerful and wonderful words for your friend. We must remember the people, we befriended and need to be remember. Cystic fibrosis take so many. Thank you for sharing your words and thoughts for a good friend.

I'm not an emotional person at all but your poem really tugs at my heartstrings! This is the best tribute to someone passed over that I've ever read. You touch on so many important details that bring your friend alive for the reader. This poem is the very definition of LIFE, whereas it's about accepting death. The rhyme & rhythm gives your message an upbeat feeling, despite how your words express the very depths of missing someone & regretting this death. I love this becuz it's stated in simple terms, it's approachable. Sometimes we humans speak in elevated language regarding death & it loses it's warmth & comfort, which your poem delivers in spades (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I really like how you communicate of how you loved him like a friend and not a lover. I have never lost any of my friends yet so I can only imagine. You are a great writer, keep writing.

Sincerely,
Sara

I agree there. Not the end...as with every memory of your dear friend. Good luck in promoting awareness of this debilitating illness. Sincere, warm words make up this composition.
