Burned Bridges

Burned Bridges

A Poem by Mek & the Infinite Madness

...It was on
the streets of 96
when we started to live
the usual days with
an unusual
life
The first fires were
heavy and cold
but as time had promised
all faded
to a numb
We raced the sun to cheat
tomorrow
but She
never came
The pursuit was futile but
intoxicating enough for us
to believe that chances would
make the stars fall
so we could wish...
We had always thought
that we could reach
home
before nightfall
but the chase
never brought us
back...
