Knowing Too Well

Knowing Too Well

A Poem by Corinna Bridgebury

There is such a thing

As knowing your own mind

Too well.

Because when you know

How a thing works

You should be able

To manipulate it.

And once you know

Why you’re sad

Or mad

And you know that it’s illogical

You don’t allow yourself

That emotion.

You manipulate it away

And if you can’t,

Well then,

You’re just wallowing.

And that’s selfish

And silly

And no one wants to see that.
