Pictures of You

Pictures of You

A Poem by Corinna Bridgebury

It’s cold in my room

The night outside my window

Seems dark and empty

Despite the lights of my city

I am all alone

Wondering what is wrong with me

Fearing that the answer might be

Everything.

I pull out my phone

And find pictures of you

And suddenly the answer is nothing

Because seeing you

Even on that tiny screen

Lifts my spirits,

Makes everything ok.

It’s like coming home,

But only in the truest,

Purest sense,

Because lately “Home”

Has become synonymous with “Alone”

And you make me the opposite

Of alone.

A excellent poem. I like how you set-up the positive ending. A memory or a photo can bring comfort when we are alone. A outstanding poem. Thank you.
