In Case Of FireA Poem by CalebA poem about the futility of rules in times of peril. As the building collapses You've thrown away your grace Your dignity lies shattered On the broken, bloodied steps.
As the building collapses Old problems again arise DO NOT USE ELEVATOR you are reprimanded As your world falls down
Down
Down into a pile of fear Strewn about carelessly by An unforgiving god's capricious hand And the administrators sit laughing.
They told you not to run in the building; Force of habit kept you going slowly; No smoking in the lobby But that's not stoppoing the buillding now.
As the building collapses You know that it's too late To do the things you've wanted But hadn't the permission to complete.
While you're running from an enemy What will ettiquette bring you now?
But in a way I know why you still Stand there and say please and thank you; For the building has collapsed, yet You must go on, so you cling To all that's left. © 2008 CalebAuthor's Note
