Story of You

Story of You

A Poem by Indigoshadows

Never tasted temptation
Quite like this.
Strong--
Like a bitter cup of coffee.
You long
To slake your thirst
And drink of me.
While I long
For the deeper world
That is you.
To know how
You take
Your eggs--
The toast lightly buttered.
The feel of your shirts
Hanging in the closet
Taunting--
Wanting to be caressed.
The books on your shelf.
Your inner self.
The story of your life
That I long to rewrite.
But have not the strength
To change the ending.

This is a story I'm familiar with but, wow, I like the way you tell it.
Fine writing.

I like the way you create every day imagery to make the poem relatable.
