Lifeline

Lifeline

A Poem by Indigoshadows

I long to lift you up,
And heal the bleeding wound.
Your pain-- I know so well
Like a piano, out of tune.
But we walk over deep waters,
Precarious- on the waves.
I may not be the best soul-guard,
Though your joy I want to save.
But you want a different rescue,
For my heart you wish to plunder,
And the more I try to resist you,
The more you pull me under.
Entangled,
I'm sunk--
In your fantasy
That's not even real.....
And cannot ever be.
Sadness has me cut the lines
And drift me off to sea.

A sad and melancholic write filled with pathos. It flows well with the rhymes and is an easy read.
