A Burden Is Me

A Burden Is Me

A Poem by Riley Jules

A burden is me
Take me away
To some other place
Where in peace I can stay
Where I see no crowds
Or eyes gawking close, for my isolation to host
No words can explain
The deep wounds I have
The infectious, incurable and deeply rooted gash
In my heart it festers
Night after night
I hide it away
Always away from sight
I'd offer a prayer
But I have no beliefs
How can paradise be true
While I am left here to bleed
Please take me away
Where sweet dreams are constant
Where anxiety and stresses
Are all but forgotten.
