Chapter 1-The New Unspeakable World

Chapter 1-The New Unspeakable World

Introduction to Sync World, rules, & brief, not full character introductions.

As I lay down on my bed lazily looking for new applications to fill in gaps of my free time, I came across a pop-up that was still stalking me. It blared with an electronic tune while displaying in a deep electric blue flashy text 'Sync World'. Although no description was given, and at this point I should have given up and discarded it like an ad; but my mind was forcing me to find out. So I searched through 10,000 results on the inter-webs and finally found what I was looking for besides the definitions of both words being the best information so far.

The webpage was gleaming with life stronger than a neon sign; the information was sticking in my mind like glue. 'One of the best VR games', 'best hidden game among citizens since 2020', '150 levels', '15 devices and combat/player levels', 'created by the youngest and smartest creator ever', and more. The information that stood out the most was 'the best combination of IRL and in game effects'. Why mind at this was blown away, I wasn't sure if it was the truth or not, but it was worth a try.' But the one part that confused me the most was 'once dead, it will be gone forever and the memory/ability to regain the application would be impossible'.

Without any further thinking, I downloaded it after ignoring the rest of the terms and conditions. Little did I know, that it would be the most difficult challenge yet due to its hardcore 1 whole or quarter life and creator tracking system.

At school I became across my friends who happened to be muttering something in a very awkward way. As I neared them I greeted and started to talk about the things I came across last night but my voice and ears were hearing distortion; and my friends (Jake, Max & Ivan) turned towards me and dragged me to an area I didn't know about behind the school.

There fairly strong skinny arms were unbreakable for a nerdy trio. Once the doors were open, I was rushed down some stairs to an underground and unknown secret of the school that was very dark, bland. Once their grip was loosened, I was bombarded with questions towards how I knew about this, but my throat felt sore and my ears had stopped rings. It wasn't long before I had recollected me self and answered the questions. My nerdy cliché friends with glasses, tucked in uniforms, big brains and nerdy quirks listened carefully to the not so fantastic and brief events. After I had finished there was silence.

"Nike" one of the three others in the room stumbled by calling my nickname. "Did you even think before doing it right after first thinking about it" Max blurts as if we are fighting over the best hero or a legendary card from games/TV series. As confusing as this sounds, I do understand what he means. I stare at him like someone has slapped me across the face from lying to them plan my answer by using my time to process the question and provide an answer.

"Stage 1 yes, Stage 2 not so much" I say while slumped in the chair or was left in. Soon the question time situation is over and I am greeted with a "ok, nice of you to join, but for the smarter and brave of the lot you do seem to be the one that usually skips stage 2 a lot more" Ivan states with a half happy, half confused grin on his face. So I am then re-greeted with the question time about what I have done with the game so far, by the trio like a pack of cannibals asks for food or a bunch of kids asking for lollies or cheat codes.

I tell them I have not yet even touched it for a millisecond and they all calm down. As they are about to explain more about the game, the bell has gone and we all exit like nothing ever happened.

Meanwhile this was commencing, the creator was scanning Nike's background. "What another nice specimen we have, a tall skinny brave nerd with a gamer's skill of amateur mixed with an overly short, overly wide and overly scared lot". Their mouth was almost watering at the sight of the four of them like a stalker or worse. "He can't possibly think he can play this or speak a word of this while being monitored by me and being crushed by the tough game and players to ever live". Then the creator laughed maniacally.

After class had ended to begin lunch, the four guys went back to the underground section of the school to continue what they had started. "So..." Ivan started, "Do you know how to get started from what information you have uncovered." I shake my head "I don't even know how to begin, just brief bits about the game."'

They tell me to pull out either a X-Station VR headset or a Vita-Box Shades, when we are all ready we start the application and start off by laying back before all four of our bodies are in a semi-sleep mode where our action in game will count. As long as we don't move too much.

As the game is loading, I see all three of my mates avatars located in the top left (Ivan), top right (Jake) and the bottom left (Max); with a minimap to compass to radar customisation option that blows my mind away.

So as I am met with the main menu or splash screen, I link up the other three chat members to a channel. Then we decide on what to start with. "How about tutorials, huh Nike" Jake cheers with a devilish grin. He knows how much I hate tutorials. "Fine, what so great about these that I'm missing out on" I drone. "You'll see!" they all chime before dropping their jaws.

Author's Note

Toys Market
Sync World is meant to be a VR Randomedly Generated Linear Level Based RPG

Characters and more about Sync World in game will be part of the next chapter.

Hope this is good as I most tried to work out what elements to put into it as it was a game idea (devices and landscapes with not much thought put into it, just statistics like upgrades really) not a writing idea. But now I think I have enough to make some chapters or book length that I want to write.
