Enveloped

Enveloped

A Chapter by Scott Christian
"

A one-night stand I had with an ex-girlfriend

"

We lay in the back, our skin clinging to the seats
Your eyes looked me over, taking me in, basking in the moment
Your eyes grew closer as our lips met again, and again
 So familiar...

You whispered in hurried breath "I've missed this"

  I missed it too

Our fingers traced the contours of our time-ravaged corpses
seeking solace in one another; Trying to replace the past with the present;
trying to repair the damages wrought on ourselves
We blamed each other, and neither of us cared

The seats, now coated in our sweat and lust
embraced us as we shifted and twisted
"Your lips are so soft... I missed them"

  "Who do you want?"
     "You" ...breathless

The fog curled around my car--enveloping it
as we embraced like old lovers on their last breath
