ConversedA Chapter by Scott ChristianBased on a love interest's dream
We sat down one night
to talk atop sheets of blue and grey We can't remember the room we were in nor ever uttering a word yet our lips did all of the talking in soft flutters along our aching skin Your eyes were closed as you breathlessly conversed with my neck I was swallowed by the rhythm of your unspoken syllables--my heart began to beat in tune I couldn't get a word in and I didn't want to Your lips and tongue echoed volumes of carnal knowledge of longing, passion, fear, hope and the faith in the moment we were sharing I embraced your dialect as your polysyllabic encyclopedia leafed through each passing second Your cheeks were flushed as you put your arms about me and we began a dialogue so subtle, sexual, and slow--I fear I may never recover I never did On cold nights, when the moon shines high and my bed seems its emptiest I always drift back in time and remember the things we said that night on sheets of blue and grey © 2010 Scott Christian |
