Bleeker

Bleeker

A Poem by Scott Christian
"

I wrote this poem about Simon & Garfunkle, a folk duo I grew up listening to.

"

Two brothers once sang of a

     ling conversation
 Through somber rime and poetry
 highlighting the tombstones of dialogue

    they struck down a relationship--leprous

   Hiding--our lives--tucked away In the corners;
afraid of the silence--broken by a sigh of superficiality
     in a world that seems Bleeker with each passing day

  Two brothers sang through the silence--a sound

As a child, their echoes, their voices were my brother
  and soothed me to sleep--

                             slipping,
                                    sliding,
                                             away into my dreams
