AttractantA Poem by Scott ChristianFor someone I love
Of the plates upon which I dined; far too many for I to count
And yet of them I favoured most: a darling little China On this I'd scrape and slave and gnash at meals And little China held all aloft, deft and unstirring A fragile partnership we, us Alas as came with frequent use, guests doth asked and abused For darling little China was attractant to any and all And in time: cracks and shards of broken China fell scattered upon the floor And in those times my darling little China was laid up to heal and resume My heart and stomach both felt empty; none other matched But time doth heal the cracks and time allows shape to reform In time, darling China we will feast of banquets again © 2014 Scott Christian |
