I'm more than what you see

I'm more than what you see

A Poem by Danielle

I'm more than just some girl.
I'm an individual person who laughs, cries, and gets jealous.
I'm a girl who has had her heart torn to pieces.
I'm often mistaken as a girl who is quiet and extremely shy.
Truth is the people I am surrounded by shape me into who I am.
It's their fault I'm so shy, it's their fault I've had my heart broken
and it's their fault that I am who I am.

I would much rather be loved for who I am then hated for who I am not.
What's the point in trying to be something I can never be?
There's no point in all that.
People see me as different.
I'd rather be different then be exactly like someone else.
I'm more than what you see.

I'm more than a teenage girl.
I'm a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a niece, a girlfriend, an ex girlfriend, and more.
My feelings get hurt and I try to let every tear out I can.
It feels good to cry. Crying makes me feel better.
I may not fit in here, but what does it matter?
I'm much more than what you see. You just have to give me a chance.
