A Poem by paperdaydreams
"

A poem about a girl suffering from anorexia

"
I clutch my body with my shaking fingertips
stroking the braille of my back
the protruding bones that tell my story
a tear trickles down my hollowed cheek
the shadows taunt my eyes
whispering words
from dark withered lips
I pray for them to leave me alone
to carry my broken body
that lies in mirrored shards on the floor
at my feet
to somewhere safe
instead they scream those words
that blur my mind
like the tears blurring my eyes
and the crimson spreading
across the creases of my palm
and dotting
like scarlet stars on
the shattered image of my body
as the sunset bleeds
from my fingertips

This was a very dark, interesting piece about a very real problem. My sister suffered from anorexia and finally got help and overcame it. Anorexia and all eating disorders are triggered by something, whether it be bullies, a parent, siblings, or media. In my opinion, what makes a girl beautiful is what makes her happy. I think girls look good with some meat on their bones, and they would think that, too, if not for all the harassment and teasing. I really liked this poem, I liked the word choice. Very nice.

This is really dark and unique. For me its like an unsual mix of mental illness and Gypsy mysticism. Which I think is really cool. Nice work!

No two people read the same poem :)
I agree, very deep. Never thought of a spin being the braille story of one's life. Now I totally am.

You're welcome. Thanks, me too. :)
Very deep and haunting. Sometimes our thoughts can get the better of us. Sometimes we let them take our happiness away, willingly, because we think it's what we deserve. Nice work!
