Escape

A Poem by paperdaydreams

Sometimes I just need to get away
From the worries and the fear
And so I slot in the headphones
Like a phone call with music
The lyrics tell me everything will be ok
Better than any friend
The drum beat runs constant
The only constant in an ever changing place
The mellodic voice
Smooth like the silk bed sheets
I could never afford
Yet they wrap me up and for those
Few minutes care only about me
3 minutes 57 of bliss
Then another 4:05 of smiles mixed with tears
That no one else sees
My own collection of watercolours
I keep saved in that one playlist
Each one holds a passcode
Others can hear the words
But never truly listen to my song
