Chapter One.

“Now all we have to tell Dad.” I say as I sit, wrapped in Jake’s arms.

Daddy shouldn’t be listening, he thinks I’ve gone out by myself for some fresh air. I hope.

“Yeah, that might be hard.” He kisses my forehead. “What about our mind? Wont he hear us now?” Jake sounds worried.

“I don’t think he is listening.” I say, hoping it’s true. “Maybe I’ll think about something else, keep him distracted, maybe.” I chew my lip.

Will that work? Oh god, I hope so. The worst thing possible now is the thought of my Dad, hearing about me and Jake. I have to tell him myself. My stomach flips at the thought.

I stretch out my legs and tilt my head back to kiss Jake, but something interrupts me halfway through our kiss. The crunching of twigs. We both turn in shock and horror.

“Nessie?” Mum says, staring at us.

Jake and I both jump up horror-struck. “Hi…Mum.”

“Hey…Bells…” Jake says nervously.

“What are you doing?” Mum asks, her face expressionless. She glances between Jake and I.

“Nothing, Mum…” I trail off, lowering my eyes. Great, now Mum is going to tell Dad. This is horrible.

Mum looks at Jacob.”Didn’t you hear what Edward said, Jake?” Mum looks away, disappointed.

“I know, Bells…” He says. “I’m really sorry. I’m dead, aren’t I?”

Mum looks up. “Not if I shield your thoughts,” Mum smiles. “To give you enough time to tell Edward.”

Jake and I breath out a sigh of relief. I know Mum is still edgy about Jacob’s Imprint on me, but this was an exelent idea. She’s going to help us.

“Oh, Thanks, Mum!” I hug her gently.

Mum leads us back through the house to enjoy the rest of the party. And most thankfully I do not see Dad looking at Jake like he would if he knew I loved him. I may have become suspicious when he could not read my mind but that doesn’t matter. Hopefully it will be enough to hold the news off for a while.

“When do we tell him?” I ask Jakey as we wave goodbye to the guests.

“I don’t know…” Jake chews his lip.

“We can’t leave it too long, you know.” I nudge him. “Mum cannot hold her shield over us forever. Besides, Dad’s bound t ask questions sooner of later. I glance nervously at where Dad is seated. He is talking to a vampire I had met earlier today. Gleness, I remember her as.

Mum approaches us and sighs. “Ness, I can’t hold much longer. I am getting everyone over here now and you are going to tell him. Beside, your father is getting suspicious.” Mum helps me up and Jake and I walk over into the middle of the lounge room.

“Alice, Jasper, Emmet, Rosalie, Carlisle, Esme, Edward! Can you come down here now please?” Mum calls. Moments later footsteps shake the second story and one by one the family members make their way down the stairs. Dad crosses the room from where he was standing.

“What is it, Bella?” Uncle Jasper, who came down the stairs first, asks.

Dad slides his arm around Mum and looks at her questionably. Obviously he was very anxious to know what I was keeping from him. It really annoys him when he cannot read something coming from my mind; he likes to know what’s going on.

“Bella?” He asks.

“Okay, everyone sit down.” Mum sits on one of the lounge chairs and waits, handing the role of speaking to me. She continues to hold her shield because Dad does not look mad.

“Um…” I stand, Jake sits down and looks as casual as he possibly can.

Everyone sits and waits for me to speak. I hesitate.

“Get on with it, Ness.” Uncle Emmett jokes.

Dad shoots him a look and continues to wait impatiently.

I shuffle nervously. “Well, you all know about Jake’s imprint on me. Everyone knows it was coming, so…” I glance at Dad and see his face harden and his mouth create a dead straight line.

I bite my lip and decide to get it over and done with. “And I wanted to let you all know…Jake and I have decided to…date.” Just as I finish the sentence, Dad jumps up, scooping Jacob up and in one motion pushes him against the wall.

Mum had opened up her shield. Dad had read all my thoughts.

“You kissed Renesmee!” Dad spits. The family all jump up, racing over to them and trying to calm Daddy down.

“Get off me.” Jake spits back. Mum and I run over to them.

“Let go of him!” I yell at Dad, frantically trying to remove Jake from Dad’s grip.

“Edward!” Mum yells. “Stop!”

Jake yelps as Dad pushes down harder on his throat and grabs his arm, throwing him away.

Mum grabs Dad by the shoulders and tries to calm him down. Jake rubs at his neck and glares at Edward.

“Lets go.” I whisper and we run out the door together. Dad is going to be furious at me for my announcement, so I am going to stay at Jake’s house for as long as I have to.

As we run down the wet graveled road I hear faint yells of, “Renesmee!”

“Nessie! Come back!”

“Ness, stop!”

I ignore them all and continue to run furiously.

Chapter Two.....

“Where’s Billy?” I ask.

“Out. He’s gone fishing with Charlie.” Jake replies, taking a bite of his cinnamon donut.

“At  night?” I ask, confused.

“Yeah, it’s the best time.” He bites his lip.

I sigh. Inspecting  Jake’s neck I see signs of healing bruises and blood-blisters. Fingerprints. My Dad had left fingerprints on my soul mate’s neck!

“Your neck…” I stare furiously.

“I’ll heal soon...” Jake replies. He glances at me in surprise. “Ness, your growling.”

I shut myself up and blush. I hadn’t realized I had been standing there growling. “Sorry,” I say.

Jake jumps up off the bench and walks over to me. He kisses my forehead and pulls a seat up next to me. “It’s going to be okay.” Jake says.

“I don’t know about that. We shouldn’t have told Dad, it was a bad idea.” I look at him. “What are we going to do?”

Jake glances away. “I don’t acually know.” He frowns. “You have to go home some time.”

I shake my head furiously and walk over to the counter, resting my head on the base of it. “I am not going back there.”

Jake smiles and wraps his arms around me. I rest my head on him, my eyes feeling one hundred and fifty kilo grams.

“You have to go back sometime.” Jake says.

“I want to stay with you.” I growl. At this moment the last thing I wanted to do was see my Dad.

“Ness, the longer you stay here the more your Dad will be mad at me. And you.” Jake says.

I have to agree with him. I should get back to my family…

“I’ll take you back now.” Jake takes my hand and leads me to the door. We run back to the house.

Chapter Three

“Shh.” Jakey says as we perch near my bedroom window.

“Get on my back.” I do as he says and climb onto his back.

He grabs onto the tree branch and silently pulls us up onto my window frame. I glance around my room. It is dark, just the way I had left it. Hopefully no one was waiting for me to return.

My dad’s car was no where to be found when we arrived. He must have gone to Jake’s house.

Jacob sets me down on my bed and brings a chair up next to me. “Your tired.”

I nod and smile. I was extraordinarily tired. “I’ll see you tomorrow?”

“I don’t know.” Jake says. “When do you think your Dad will be able to put up with me?”

“I’ll let you know.” I yawn.

“Goodnight, Ness.” Jake kisses me on my lips. “Love you.”

“Love you, Jake.” My eyelids weigh down and I fall into complete slumber.

 Chapter Four

I turn over and groan as I wake up.

I feel so energized as I stretch and sit up in my bed. And then I remember last nights incedints. My eyes fly open and I nearly jump out of my skin when I see Grandma Esme standing at the end of my bed.

“Sorry. Did I scare you, Ness?” She says in her sweet, motherly voice.

“No…” I look away. “Where’s Dad?”

“He’s in the kitchen, making you breakfast.” She replies. “We’re not mad at you, sweetie. It’s just that we never expected the imprint to come on this fast. It was always there but we didn’t expect you to fall in love with Jacob this early.”

I nod. “I shouldn’t have brought it up this early.” I slide out of bed and reach for my dressing gown.

Grandma Esme reaches for my neck, tracing her finger around the necklace Jacob had given me last night.

“I do love him, though, Grandma.” I sigh.

“I know, sweetie.” She smiles at me. “Jacob is perfect for you.”

I hear footsteps on the stairs. “That’s your Father.” Esme says. She hugs me gently and disappears out the door. Moments later Dad walks in the door, hoding a plate of food.

I glance away, still angered by his performance last night.

“Renesmee, my darling, sit down please.” He says, gesturing to my bed.

I stare at him, pulling on my dressing gown and sitting down on my bed. I stare out my window.

“You don’t have to be so dramatic.” My father says, sitting down next to me. “I want you to know that I feel very sorry for my behavior last night.”

I glance at him. “You choked Jake.”

Dad places a hand over my hand. “I know and I am sorry, Renesmee, I think I can talk to Jacob about this and sort this out.”

I look at him in suprise. “You would do that?”

Dad nods. “Yes.” It looks like pain for him to tell me he cares about me and Jake dating.

He glances away. “I have some conditions, although.”

Great, of course he would have some conditions. That was typical Dad, overprotective.

I nod.

He squeezes my hand and leaves the room, leaving me in peace to eat my eggs on toast.

When I am done I slide out of bed and return the dishes to the kitchen. As I am loading them into the dishwasher I catch a glimpse of Jake and Dad, talking outside.

I stare at them and Aunty Alice places a cold hand on my arm. “Don’t worry.” She says. “They aren’t fighting, just talking about Edward’s ‘conditions’.” She laughs.

I watch as Jake nods and Dad explains his rules. I can’t help laughing myself. I am joyous that Dad has allowed this.

Moments later Jake and Dad come in. Dad leaves to find Mum and Jake walks up to me, smiling. I glance around and wonder where Aunty Alice went. I smile at Jake.

He kisses me softly on my lips, but then pulls back. I push out my lip, disappointed.

“Conditions.” Jake says, smiling and kissing me again.
