Trial and ErrorA Poem by Imber66Small poem I wrote for school.Trial and Error It will always be you to outlast Taken aback from harsh realities How could both you and I be so naive I realize now what’s in the past I feel my heart droop seconds from decay Only left at last was my soulless body there to stay Engulfed in the shadows where I recede Just a figment of imagination Why was I last to heed? Stared into a reflector Waiting for time to pass Portrayed no sign of emotion This love wasn’t meant to last I never tried hard, nor will I ever Your heart is a fire, an everlasting blaze Such a painstaking attempt at endeavor I wish I could just take back all those sunny summer days Something’s not right, I can tell When I see your face I forget all my worries" forgotten by your spell Stalk through this jungle Let the creepers brush your gossamer skin Kill them all, without struggle For the all hatred comes far from within
Can’t see my shadowed heart? Knew this’d happen from the start What can I do, go and prevent? Why? You could never see the resulting lament… I can’t tell if you want to be around me I know I can get clingy, not easily dispelled But why do you choose to sit by me when you could sit freely? I’m getting ahead of myself here, can’t stop this, really Climb up past the canopy dart between the mass field of branches Trust nothing, yield for no one Fear not, loose no sanity I need nothing more than the simple thought us being friends Prepare to endure our painfully story until the end Skull ever-so bleak Paws so small and oblique Whiskers quiver A fox could never forgive her Bulky wide ears, covered with mud Large paws, enveloped in dry blood Eyes too narrow Her heart was softer than bone marrow A moss covered wall complete with vines, weeds, flowers, and all Cracked cobbled stones shone bright with failed errors of protection, where bugs crawl But with simple words, the small fox, she blew down it all with the smallest voice But no one rejoiced Thousands of years grew this tree which stands before me It’s leaves greater than the sorrows of any aching heart Many climb to see the top But no one was quite there Everlasting berries grew on the highest peak where only some could reach, ’really wasn’t fair Love’s like a ghost It wanders wherever it wants Shows itself to who it haunts Never comes back after it’s seen Love’s like liquid It follows a certain path Only you can change the direction it’s flowing, ’stop it from it’s wrath Liquid can be hot, cold; wicked Painted pink smoke Painted blue water Always covered by a cloak, Was two colors that had sought her Stained paint Color the world With your brush of love Your futures ‘coming all unfurled Look down upon the stars Break every single heavy heart Leaving everyone with scars Smash them, burn them, pull them apart Leave them all back in the past I’m following straight behind you Picking up each single scrap, which you threw out in the vast Your heart is completely blue I’m pink" that’s not right! Why are colors changing with every blink? Nothing’s the same; blurred is my sight! I stand anesthetized By the colors in your eyes I gave you every inch of my heart How come no one hears my cries? I’m not happy"I’ll never be! “I’m doing great!" that isn’t true Putting on a fake disguise doing all these things for you You inspire me everyday You make me want to write poems, tell stories, sing songs, draw drawings You make me feel good in every way Wish I could show you how I felt; display How I wish it was nice outside Bring you to a park at sunset, tell you how I feel But sadly these thoughts aren’t applied To our Earth’s planned rotation wheel Too bad you don’t feel the same Oh what a waste my efforts are But it isn’t you who is to blame Let’s talk another day © 2017 Imber66Author's Note
