I Waited

I Waited

A Poem by Micheala Dover
"

The life of a couple until they get married.

"
He ran around with girls
He partied with his friends
At night, he sneaked in
I waited

I studied my books
I talked to my friends
At night, I slept soundly
He waited

He tried on tuxedos
He picked his best man
At night, he thought about his vows
I waited

I tried on a dress
I picked a Maid of Honour
At night, I thought about my vows
He waited

He picked a tuxedo
He chose a tie
At night, he wrote his vows
I waited

I picked a dress
I chose the flowers
At night, I wrote my vows
He waited

He stood at the altar
Next to his best man
He watched the doors
I waited

I stood outside the doors
Next to my brother
I started walking
He waited

We stood at the altar
Next to the priest
We said our vows
We waited

We drove away
Straight to the airport
We boarded the plane
And this time, we didn't wait

Beautiful writing! Poetry that describes everyday experiences is the most relatable of all, but a good piece is certainly very hard to find. This was good writing! The first stanza, for me, was a little out of place and could certainly use some rethinking. But great effort all in all! :D
