Chapter Twenty NineA Chapter by Imagination-mageCilan
struggled with his bonds, the heat from the fiery pit really having a toll on
him. Not only was he hot, he was sore from being in the same position for three
days his legs long ago put to sleep. The dragons occasionally walked by either
to feed him or just curious. He tried wiping the sweat from his head but that
only welcomed new beads of sweat. “May I have a glass of water?” Cilan
called. There was a rumble, the dragons cowering away in their nests as the
Dragon Queen appeared from her pit, a large beast with her white teeth barring
at being disturbed in her slumber. “What do you want?!” she bellowed. “W-Water…” Cilan stuttered, frozen
by fear. The queen
blew smoke from her nostrils and turned to her dragons. She gestured one to
fetch water which it did and the queen soon turned to her half human form. She
approached Cilan, her hand on her forehead and asking “Why do you bug me.” “Yasmine please, get yourself
together!” Cilan pleaded, his voice cracking from the lack of water. “This
isn’t the Yasmine I know!” He was
seized by the shirt and brought face to face with Yasmine who glared, showing
she was tired and angry. “Shut up.” She warned and threw him
back in place. Cilan remained quiet as she made her way back. The dragon she
sent off to fetch water for him returned and helped him drink. Once the basin
was emptied the dragon returned to its spot. Cilan slumped, feeling his legs
tingle from being moved. As he cringed from the pins and needles that
reverberated through his legs, he suddenly heard a “Psst.” “Hmm?” Cilan questioned, turning over
only to see his brother. He nearly cried out in glee but his mouth was clasped
shut by a scaly, clawed hand that now belonged to his brother. “I’m gonna get you out of here.”
Brandt said, Cilan seeing his dragon eyes and dragon teeth. “But I gotta be
fast.” “What happened to you?” Cilan
whispered, shocked at his brother appearance. “She bit me.” Brandt said. “That’s
what happens when you rebel.” “No, Brandt if she finds out you let
me escape, she’ll kill you!” Cilan said through gritted teeth. “As the eldest
brother, I demand you stop!” “And as the youngest sibling I
happily decline, I’m going through my rebellious phase.” Brandt said, smirking.
“Besides, she won’t kill me.” “What makes you so sure?” Cilan
asked, raising an eyebrow. “She would’ve when she bit me,
Yasmine’s not completely lost.” Brandt said. He sliced the ropes and Cilan’s
hands fell free. Cilan attempted to stand but fell, Brandt catching him and
saying “You gotta stay quiet, she’s sleeping.” Brandt’s
scales shivered as snoring was soon heard through the cave. He picked up his
brother and stealthily made his way out. He came to the entrance, finding
Hiccup and Patricia waiting. “They’ll take you to Toradora where
you need to hide.” Brandt whispered, boarding his brother on Hiccup’s back. “Warn
the others that wars coming.” “What about you?” Cilan asked. “I need to stay here; I’m Sarah’s
eyes here.” Brandt replied. “Sarah, how is she?!” Cilan asked
urgently. “Saving lives.” Brandt replied
quickly. “Now go!” He slapped
Hiccup on the side making him take off with Patricia following. The two dragons
disappeared in the sky, Brandt watching them fly. “Brandt….Brandt….” Yasmine called from inside, sounding tired. “Coming, my lady.” Brandt said
obediently and returned inside. ~ * ~ The little fox in Lavi’s room
scratched fervently on the door, wanting to desperately go out. “No, for the last time!” Lavi
scolded, the fox growling at him warningly. “Lavi, it’s a blackout.” Allen
confirmed. “No ones out.” Lavi glared
but soon muttered “Fine, but only for a while!” He grabbed
the fox, picking it up and going out with Allen. As they stepped out, they
suddenly collided with a hurried scientist. Lavi dropped the fox who scurried
away. “Ow, watch it!” Lavi scolded. “Sorry, I-I’m in a hurry!” the
scientists said. The scientist was dressed like the rest except her hair was
hidden in a conductor’s hat. The fox weaved past the stomping feet,
miraculously staying hidden. Lavi sprinted after it and said “It’s going for
the cells!” “Cells?” the scientist asked and
continued. “I need to go there too!” “Then come on!” Allen said, grabbing
her wrist and bringing her along. The fox arrived to the basement where it came
to an iron cell, scratching at it. It barked up at the high up window till a
voice responded “Whose there?” Jaya remained in her cell, her face
hidden in her knees as she simply waited. She then heard the sound of small
footsteps, thinking it was merely a rat she ignored it; then came the
scratching at the door and barking. “Whose there?” Jaya asked, rising
from the ground and peaking through. She came face to face with the baby demon
fox who tried eagerly to get to her. “Aw, what a cutie!” Jaya exclaimed. “Jaya?!” a voice called. Turning she
found her knight in shining armor, Lavi come by with Allen and an unknown
scientist. “Lavi!” Jaya said, Lavi coming to
the bars. “H-How’d you find me?” “My love led us to you!” Lavi said,
with hearts in his eyes. “The dog.” Allen replied bluntly and
picked up the fox. It hopped out of his hands and gripped at the bars, licking
her face. “Aw, he’s so cute!” Jaya said. “We’ll get you out.” The scientist
said and Jaya recognized the voice. She reached out, clasped her hand and
gasped out “Sarah!” “I came back!” Sarah breathed out
happily. “But where’s Rachel?” “With Monarch!” Jaya said. “Get me
out of here so I can strike her with lightening!!” “Why would you do that?” Lavi asked.
“Monarchs kindhearted.” Allen said,
almost having a fist collide with his head but he was out of Jaya’s reach. “I saw Monarch with Rachel when I
was passing by.” Sarah said. “We need to get her out of here, Yasmine and Rylie
are gonna break out in war!” “What, Yasmine leading an army?”
Jaya asked. “That’s preposterous!” “Who’s Yasmine?” Lavi asked. “Get Rachel quick, before Monarch
does something nasty to her!” Sarah said. “Get me out of here!” Jaya demanded.
“Allen, go on ahead and find
Rachel.” Lavi said. “We’ll try to break Jaya out.” “We can’t rebel against Monarch!”
Allen said. “ALLEN, JUST GO!” Jaya screamed
aggressively. Seeing the angered aura surrounding Jaya made Allen sprint from
place and back out to find Rachel. ~ * ~ Rachel was pushed and shoved into
the room where herself and Jaya first encountered Monarch. She glared at the
guards as they closed the door. She heard the many locks on the doors click
shut, the room lighting up with the stars all over again. “Oh Rachel, doesn’t this just bring
back memories?” Monarch asked. Rachel glared over at her, but Monarch only
continued “Please darling, this hurts me more than it’ll hurt you.” “What do you want Monarch?” Rachel
asked, freeing her mouth from the cloth. “Simple darling.” Monarch said and
leaned in, removing the hair that blocked Rachel’s ear. “You’re soul…” Rachel
jumped back, only to be grabbed by the forearm and roughly pulled towards
Monarch as Monarch pulled a dagger from her kimono. Rachel screamed “ALLEN,
HELP ME!!” “He can’t hear you darling, say
goodnight.” Monarch said; about to slash Rachel’s throat till a round golden
ball hit her in the forehead. Timcampy had hidden himself in Rachel’s furry
collar and sprung forth to defend Rachel. Monarch now had blood flowing down
her forehead, the cross that engraved Timcampy’s front was now printed on her
forehead. She slapped Timcampy away before he could ram her again, he fell out
of the air like a fly and hit the ground hard. She turned back to Rachel who
had taken the opportunity and was running away. Monarch charged, Timcampy
rising from the ground and grabbing a mouthful of Monarch’s hair in his mouth
and pulling back. Monarch slipped and landed on her back, Timcampy quickly flying
by and towards Rachel. With shark like teeth, he ripped through her bonds and
set her hands free. Rachel grabbed Timcampy and tried running back to the door
only to get her hair grabbed and yanked back. “I want that soul!!” Monarch bellowed. Timcampy rose from Rachel’s clutched
hands and let out a sonic screech that made Monarch and Rachel cringe from the
horrible screech, sounding like nails running against a chalkboard. “Insolent insect!” Monarch screeched and slashed at Timcampy making him fall
out of the air and land on its side. The golden wings twitched but soon fell
still. “TIM!!”
Rachel cried. Monarch went for the kill, attempted to stab Rachel but Rachel
grabbed the blade with her bare hand and kept it there. She pushed back,
gritting her teeth to get past the pain. “Die!” Monarch said, pushing down
harder. “I will most certainly not!!” Rachel screamed back and kicked Monarch in the
side. With her blood coated hand, she tightened her fists and the pavement rose
up. She pushed against them and they launched at Monarch who dodged them
swiftly. She licked the blades edge, lapping up Rachel’s blood and growing
younger and more agile. She tried slashing at Rachel again but she dodged. As
Monarch got closer, Rachel put her forearms up and was slashed there instead of
her jugular. She kicked Monarch in the stomach. I need to heal…..Rachel thought. I need to concentrate! Monarch
then tackled her to the ground, twisting her arm and making Rachel cry out in
pain. “No one will hear you, might as well
give up.” Monarch said. “Hoping your little night in shining armor will save
you? I’ve raised Allen and Lavi like my own children; they’ll never listen to
the likes of you Ancients.” Rachel felt
hot tears begin to roll down her eyes as she tried kicking her off. Monarch had
only grown younger and stronger from just a simple lap of her blood. She
shivered and said “At least tell me how you found them.” “Found
them?!” Monarch asked and began to laugh. “I didn’t find them, I killed their parents.” Rachel
stopped shivering, her eyes snapping open as she looked into Monarch’s blood
craving eyes. “I needed bait to lure you two in,
so I stole them idiot!” Monarch hissed. “But it doesn’t matter to you.” She brought
the saliva and blood covered blade to Rachel’s throat and said “My regards to
their parents.” She was
about the stab Rachel in the neck, till a sword was lodged through her back and
through her stomach. She froze the black sword with the white cross along the
edges all too familiar. The two turned back, only finding Allen behind her with
his sword through her spine and stomach. Her eyes widened as she stuttered “Wha-what
are you doing?” “Take me for a fool?” Allen said,
his bangs covering his eyes as he continued to push his blade through. “Allen,
stop.” Monarch said as she felt the blade begin to cut through her intestines. “Trick
Lavi and I into believing you were our savior, for sixteen years?!” Allen said, his voice rising as he began to push
further in. Monarch coughed blood and Rachel remained where she was. “Allen,
stop it!!” Monarch said, trying to sound commanding but her eyes showed fear. “TRYING
TO TAKE MY RACHEL AWAY FROM ME?!” Allen screeched. “OH NO YOUY DIDN’T, B!T(#!!!” Monarch
screamed as she felt the searing pain of the blade. Making quick haste, she
pulled out three smoke bombs and threw them to the ground. The two were
shrouded in purple smoke, soon finding themselves alone. Rachel coughed, Allen
coming to her side and helping her sit up. “Rachel, Rachel!” Allen said,
patting her back. “You okay, what happened?” He then
spotted the gashes on her forearms and hand. He gritted his teeth and looked
around. Before he could bolt from place, Rachel grabbed him by the sleeve and
said “Tim…Timcampy…” He turned
over and spotted his fluttered friend lying lifeless on the ground. He choked
on any words. Rachel put her weight on Allen and pushed herself up. She made
her way to Timcampy, lifting him up in her blood covered hands and took a deep breath.
The flowers soon sprouted on the side of her head, glowing brilliantly as she
began to heal Timcampy. He was shrouded in a golden light, Rachel trying to
hold the concentration and not noticing that she too was being engulfed in the
same light. As the light faded, Timcampy was merrily flapping and zoomed
towards Allen who caught him. “Oh thank god!!” Allen said as he
hugged Timcampy. He looked up and noticed Rachel had changed, her once long
brown hair was now cut short, her bang unruly and her hair a leaf green color,
her eyes matching. She wore a baggy white shirt and long white pants, green
boots tucking the pants in with green gloves over her hands, white wings on her
back and she radiated the gold light. “Allen?” Rachel asked. “What’re you
looking at?” Allen
motioned her to look in the puddle of blood as her mirror. Rachel looked in and
gasped at her new look. Her hand subconsciously reached for where her hair used
to be and her eyes grew wide. “An Ancient of Earth.” Allen said. “Rachel….you
just reawakened yourself.” “Huh?” Rachel asked. “RACHEL, ALLEN!!” Jaya called,
catching the two teenager’s attention. Allen grabbed Rachel by the wrist and
pulled her along, following Jaya’s urgent voice. © 2011 Imagination-mageAuthor's Note
