Chapter Five: Another Story

Chapter Five: Another Story

A Chapter by Imagination-mage

The raging sound of a roaring motorcycle awoke the youth that was Justin Haddock at three in the morning, making him roll out of bed and land on his back. He winced in pain as he forced himself up. He stood on his feet and stretched towards the ceiling, feeling the satisfying pop in his back. He rubbed his side and gave a wide yawn.

            “Stupid biker.” He mumbled.

He then heard something drop in the other room, making him walk off and go in search of the foreign noise. He was led downstairs to his garage, throwing on a fluffy robe over himself to protect his thin body from the cold. He opened it only to be welcomed by his twin brother-

“Beck!” Justin said angrily. His twin an exact replica of him, except that he had black streaks in his red hair now, wearing a red torn muscle shirt with a black jacket over and the hoodie on his head and his purple skinny jeans tucked into his bulky black boots. He glared at his brother, replying “What?”

“What the hell are you doing?!” Justin asked, approaching his brother.

“What does it look like?” Beck retorted, throwing a large duffel bag over and into his red pick up truck which was very much alive. Looking closer, all of his brother’s belongings were in the back trunk, tied down and ready to move. All that was out was Beck’s pet python Nagini, named after the serpent from Harry Potter one of his many favorite novels. The snake hissed, making a chill run up Justin’s spine.

“You’re taking Nagini with you?” Justin asked.

“Yeah, she’s my babe.” Beck replied, the snake coiling up his arm and finding its place on his shoulders. “Besides, you or Walter won’t take care of her.”

“Don't just call dad Walter, that’s not even his name.” Justin said.

“He’s not my dad. Besides it pisses him off to the extreme…” Beck said coldly. He checked the truck again and ensured that he had everything.

“Clothes- check, money and wallet- check, sleeping bag- check, snake food- check, snake cage- check (I think), weapons- check, soap- check, shampoo and conditioner- check, phone- check, ipod and speakers…”Beck said, going over to his stereo and turning on his ipod, the speakers playing out heavy metal music that shook the garage. Justin covered his ears and gritted his teeth. Beck switched it off and smiled replying “Check.”

“Where are you going?” Justin asked.

“Colorado, New York, California; who the hell knows!” Beck said. “Anywhere’s better then here.”

He set his snake in the passenger’s seat, who coiled and waited for the car to start and hopped in himself. He put his hand on the wheel and said through the open window “Don’t miss me.”

“I won’t.” Justin said. “Not the only thing that left this place….”

Beck looked at his hands and sighed, soon replying “Mom would’ve wanted us to follow our own path. Just ‘cause she’s dead doesn’t mean she’s not here with us.”

“Since when have you started preaching me?” Justin asked with a hallow laugh. His brother only smirked and replied “Ever since the old man failed at being a father.”

Beck then pulled out of the garage. He honked at Justin who only stood where he was and waved.

“Hey, Justin!” Beck called. “There’s….something on my bed I want you to have. It was moms but it’ll ware me down. You take it!”

With that Beck drove off into the rising sun, disappearing in its rays. Justin just remained where he was soon releasing a sigh and returned inside, wrapping his hands around his arms. He closed the garage door and came back inside the house, hearing the loud snoring of his father upstairs.

Now I’m an only child…Justin thought, sitting on the couch only to spot a family picture. He picked it up and looked at it, when his brother and himself were merely five years of age with their beautiful mother who was tall, slender and carried something in her hands, the bit was scratched out. She was smiling brightly, his amber hair flowing in the wind and her eyes closed, Justin and Beck laughing beside her. Justin smiled to himself before setting the picture down. He rose and returned to bed.

He heard his alarm ring to life as he drowsily opened his eyes. He reached over and shut it off. He rose up, rubbing his eye and sitting up. Still half asleep, Justin took off the covers and got out of bed. He dragged himself to the shower and bathed, letting the hot water warm his skin.

This is Oregon, a place of cold weather and nature. Justin thought, soon turning off the shower head. A place where wild animals mingle with the advanced ways of man; humans are taking it a little far but hey, that’s revolution….

Justin got out of the shower, wrapping a towel around him and drying himself off, wrapping a bath robe around himself and leaving the bathroom. He returned to his bedroom and began changing into his clothes. He set out a long sleeved green shirt and baggy brown skinny jeans, skater shoes on his feet and a large jacket on. Once in his clothes, he got his school bag ready and went back to the living room.

There’s….something on my bed I want you to have. It was moms but it’ll ware me down. You take it. His brother’s voice suddenly echoed through his head. He stopped short in front his brother’s door, finding the engravings of his brother’s name carved into the door.

“He did say it was for me…” Justin said and pushed the door open. His brother’s room was completely bare of all possessions. His books were gone, his paint ball guns, posters were off the walls, clothes were taken, shoes and whatever had his brother’s name on it. It was just another empty room with nothing but a bed, empty dresser and closet and air. Justin looked around, running his hand over the graffiti that his brother did to mark his room. His eyes then fell to Beck’s bed, finding a black chest. He approached the box, looking around.

He picked it up and suddenly felt himself being shrouded in an unknown darkness. He trembled at the power, his hand subconsciously going for the lid and lifting. He closed his eyes, expecting a beast to pop out and rip his face right off and run off. But instead, there lay a chained necklace with a ring on it, a sapphire jewel on the ring that gleamed like moonlight. The jewel caught his eye but he was able to snap out of it.

“Cool…” Justin muttered. He slipped the necklace around his neck and let the jewel fall on his chest, suddenly feeling protected.

“Justin, you ready?” a voice called, obviously his father. Justin slumped his shoulders and called “Coming.”

He left his brothers room, going down the hall way where he found his father doing his bows to the statue of Christ in their living room. It was sometimes odd having a priest as your father but Justin couldn’t do anything about it. He grabbed his bag and called “I’m leaving.”

“Justin.” His father suddenly said, making Justin pause. “Where’s Beck?”

“…Probably sleeping…” Justin lied and left the house.

“So what do ya wanna do today?” a hyper Asian girl with pink and blue streaks asked, wearing a black vest, long sleeved My Chemical Romance shirt and booth shorts, striped tights under and bulky boots. She wore eyeliner and black lipstick on her lips, smiling widely.

“Uh no Nao, I wanna stay here.” Justin replied.

His friend Nao and himself were currently walking through the school halls with Derek, his friend who was in a band wearing all red today including red died hair and his hands deep in his pockets. Derek yawned widely, not able to contain himself.

“Derek, your breath reeks!” Nao complained, slapping him hard in stomach making him gag.

“Can’t get enough of me, can we Nao-chan?” Derek asked, grabbing her head and trying to kiss her cheek only to get punched in the gut. Nao stomped away, finding her place besides Justin.

“No need to be so rough babe.” Derek said, still recovering from the punch.

“Oh please.” Nao said curtly. “Justin, back me up.”

“Please, don’t drag me into this.” Justin said, rolling his eyes.

The three friends arrived to their next class, seeing their class president push past them as she tried getting some delinquents to the principle. They entered the class, papers airplanes soaring through the sky and paper footballs doing backflips in the air. They found their seats and got their things ready. As Justin set out his things, something suddenly flashed across his vision making his eyes go wide. He looked around, wondering where the flash came from but found nothing. The flash came again when he touched his pencil, making him officially freak out.  The teacher soon entered and he bellowed “Sit down, now!”

All the students sat down, getting themselves ready for class.

“Take out your algebra books and turn to page two twenty four, copy the problems and solve them.” Their teacher said and everyone got to work. Justin followed everyone’s example and took his text book out, flipping to the page and writing out the problems, solving them easily with his photographic memory. As he finished up the last problem, the flash came again this time almost blinding him. He flinched, dropping his pencil and finding his hand shaking. His eyes went wide with fear as he suddenly shot up from his seat and made his way to the door.

“Mr. Haddock where are you going?” the teacher asked.

“B-Bathroom, please excuse me.” Justin replied and left the room. He raced down the halls, reaching the bathroom and turning the faucet on hot. He dunked his hand in and tried catching his breath. He was breathing heavily, going to his knees and trying to calm his racing heart. Once his hand stopped shaking, he pulled it out and dried his hand. He leaned against the wall and tried collecting his thoughts. Once he was better, he got up and returned to class.

            “What was that?” Nao asked.

            “J-Just a spasm.” Justin replied.

“I highly doubt that.” Nao countered. “You’re acting weird.”

“Am not!” Justin said. “Derek am I acting weird?”

“Yup.” Derek replied, his hands deep in his pockets.

Justin glared and said through clenched teeth “Thanks Derek.”

“No problem Derek, just trying to help my lady.” Derek said. Nao sent him cold glares this time, sticking her tongue out.

“It was seriously nothing guys.” Justin said. “Probably some weird over load on work.”

“Whatever, lets eat!” Derek said, taking out his McDonalds meal and sitting on the hill that caught the suns rays to keep them warm in Oregon’s freezing weathers. They took out their meals and commenced eating their meals. As Justin was about to dig into his meal, he suddenly heard the familiar motorcycle roar that constantly harassed him in the mornings. Looking up he saw her, the biker zoom by with her mysterious black motorcycle and suit, leaning forward and wearing her cat like helmet which gleamed. Time slowed as she passed, Justin’s eyes fixated on the biker who soon zoomed off and disappeared in the streets.

“The Biker…wow.” Nao said. “Not many are lucky to see her.”

“How do you know it’s a she?” Derek asked.

“You guys suck at observation.” Nao said.

The boys glared as Nao took a large bite of her burger, chewing away as she stuck her nose in the air. Justin only shrugged and commenced eating his food.

Justin…. A voice suddenly said, making Justin look around. He raised an eyebrow and continued eating.
