Chapter 7: Yasmine's secret surpriseA Chapter by Imagination-mageA few weeks passed for the five girls. They found themselves competing to see who would get all ninety nine souls and one witches’ soul first. Yasmine and Bethany were on eighty one, Rylie and Ultimo on sixty nine, Jaya and Vice on sixty nine as well and Rachel and Allen on fifty nine. They were in their sparing classes, Yasmine waving sheepishly towards Kirikou as he passed by. She sighed dreamily, not realizing Rylie stood next to her. “I’ll keep your little secret Yasmine don’t worry.” Rylie reassured catching Yasmine off guard. “Wh-what’re you talking about?!” Yasmine asked quickly. “Gibberish, that’s what!” Rylie laughed and said “I know you like Kirikou and he probably likes you back.” “I highly doubt it.” Yasmine said. “Probably thinks I’m a freak for falling apart on him.” Rylie shrugged and the other girls soon joined them. Jaya grabbed Yasmine by the shoulder and asked “So, how’s your mission with watching Chrona?” “Well nothings really happened, she still seems too innocent.” Yasmine said. “Don’t let that fool you.” Bethany said. “Rachel’s a demon yet she looks all innocent.” “Hey!” Rachel said, rather offended. “Still, I just can’t see Chrona going around saying she’s from Shibusen then trying to kill them. She’s not like that anymore.” Yasmine said. “Oh Yasmine acting like the dense, idiotic child that you are.” Jaya said patting Yasmine’s shoulder. “There is always a villain in every life and that villain apparently is Chrona.” “Or it could be a kishin.” Yasmine said with a cold glare. “Well it all leads up to Chrona, she’s the daughter of a witch as simple as that!” Rylie said. “Now let’s just get back to sparing shall we?” Everyone agreed and went back to sparing that is until Yasmine’s watch suddenly began to beep, making Yasmine transform back into a human and look at the time. “Oh, I gotta go!” Yasmine said running off. “Wait, we’re not done!” Bethany called after. “I know sorry maybe next time!!” Yasmine called back as she disappeared through the door. Her friends should’ve been suspicious but they just continued with their sparing till the next class. ~ ~ ~ “Okay this is getting suspicious.” Rylie finally said as they ate lunch around the school fountain. They had gathered there every day to brag about the souls they caught but Yasmine wasn’t there again. Jaya took a bite of her veggie wrap and said “Yeah, she’s missed three classes already. I’m shocked Shinigami-sama didn’t call her in already.” “They’re like best friends Jaya, he’s giving her slack!” Bethany said. “She’s not even telling me what she’s up to.” “Just give it time guys, just watch she’ll pop up anytime now and blabber out this big secret of hers.” Rachel predicted. Right on cue, Yasmine came running out a paper bag lunch in her hand as she ran towards them. She sat next to Bethany and gave her friends a smile as if nothing had happened. But her appearance didn’t really help, her clothes were a bit torn and dirty, bite marks on her arms and legs also she had a long black scorch mark on her cheek. Yasmine straightened out her hair and asked “What’re we talking about?” “What happened to you?!” Jaya said, not really caring that she was almost screaming. “What do you mean?” Yasmine asked then looked at herself. “Oh, this…Well um…I was helping Shinigami-sama with a…project for Stein.” “LIAR!” Bethany shouted angrily, pointing an accusing finger at Yasmine. “I was with him this morning; he always tells me when we’re going to dissect a new specimen. I didn’t hear anything of the sort!” “No?” Yasmine asked nervously. “Yasmine what are you up to?” Rachel asked sweetly. “Don’t tell us, we’ll come into your room and wring the truth from you!” Rylie threatened. Yasmine was shaking, making it obvious that she was hiding something. Her friends were closing in, waiting for an answer. Yasmine was about to say something, till her watch beeped again. She quickly got up and started to run back inside. “Sorry guys maybe next time!” Yasmine called at them. Bethany cursed under her breath and said “She was just about to crack!” “We’ll get it from her somehow.” Rylie said deviously. “Bethany, you and Yasmine are staying at Death the Kids right?” “Yeah, I’ll keep an eye on her.” Bethany said. “The rest of us will make sure to keep a close eye on her during school hours.” Rylie said. “Remember, this is for a good cause.” Jaya said. “Yasmine’s safety.” “That and because if there’s a secret then I want to know about it!” Rylie said. The bell then rang in the distance and Rachel said “Lets discuss this later, we have class now.”
The school day dragged on, Yasmine had arrived late in almost all her classes, with a pink note in her hand that gave her the slack she needed but the extra work that came with it. The day ended, Bethany and Yasmine got a ride home with Kid. They arrived at his home and Yasmine sluggishly walked up the steps, not as preppy as she normally was. “Something bothering you, Yasmine?” Bethany asked. “Huh, oh no ~yawn~ what makes you think that?” Yasmine asked. “Come on Yasmine we’re friends here, I can keep secrets.” Bethany said, slyly closing in. “You’re making me feel uncomfortable Bethany.” Yasmine said, scooting away. The two girls walked to their rooms, Yasmine locking the door behind her and Bethany cursing under her breath. Bethany went into her room, putting her Hello Kitty pajama’s on and sitting on her bed. “NO!” Yasmine screamed from her room, a vase breaking inside and fidgeting following the noise. Bethany jumped off her bed, opening her door and kicking Yasmine’s door down to the floor, finding the room dark and some type of liquid on the floor. The vase was shattered and Yasmine was standing on her window sill. “What’re you doing?” Bethany said. Yasmine looked back at her, blood trickling down her forehead and over her eye, giving Bethany a wild expression. Yasmine jumped out the window, Bethany running at her but finding her gone. “Wait till the others hear about this…” Bethany said and returned to bed. ~ ~ ~ “She did what?!” Rylie said shocked. “I think she killed someone!” Bethany repeated. “That’s can’t be!” Jaya said. “Yasmine can’t kill people, it’s against her religion!” “We don’t know that!” Rylie said. “Yasmine could be a deranged killer and could’ve been lying to us all this time!!!” “Rylie, that’s not true!” Rachel said like a five year old. “Yasmine is an innocent soul who’d never go out killing people!” “I’d never what?” a voice said behind them. Yasmine stood behind her friends trying to squeeze into the conversation. Her friends flinched, scooting a good five feet away from her and Rylie asked “Hey Yasmine how’s life?” “Good.” Yasmine said with a shrug. “What’re you guys talking about?” “Yasmine are you a deranged killer?!” Jaya asked suddenly, covering her mouth. Yasmine looked at her in confusion and the other girls waited for an answer. Yasmine just laughed and said “I can’t kill people, I can’t sink that low.” “Then what’re you hiding?!” Rylie asked. “Can’t tell you.” Yasmine said. “Shinigami-sama’s orders.” “OH MY LORD, THAT’S IT!” Bethany screamed, hitting Yasmine over the head with a book. “MAKA CHOP!” Yasmine crumbled to the floor and fainted. “Why did you do that?!” Rachel asked. “Quick, get her to Steins!!” Bethany said and with the help of her friends carried Yasmine to the death trap that was Stein’s house.
Yasmine woke up with a bright light shining in her face. Her eyes squinted at the bright light finding her friends surrounding her. “Where am I?” Yasmine asked wearily. “At Steins house Yasmine.” Bethany said, a sinister smile spreading. Yasmine immediately began to panic. Yasmine soon found herself tied to a chair when she tried making a run for it. “Wh-why are you doing this?” Yasmine asked all teary eyed. “Yasmine you’re a murder.” Jaya said. “Mu-murder?” Yasmine asked, rather confused. “I saw blood on the floor of your room, how do you explain that?” Bethany asked. “And if you refuse to answer, I won’t mind some much needed extra credit for Steins class.” Bethany pulled on a pair of gloves and they slapped onto her wrist making Yasmine flinch. “Bl-blood, there was no blood.” Yasmine said nervously. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” “What’s wrong with your arm then?” Rachel asked, spotting the bandages around Yasmine’s arm. Yasmine flinched and looked down at her arm, seeing her friends glare at her head. “U-Umm…..I don’t know.” Yasmine lied. Bethany poked it and Yasmine immediately screamed in pain. “Now you’re resorting to cutting yourself?!” Rylie asked. “I didn’t think you were going emo.” “I’m not!” Yasmine said. “Then what’s going on?!” Jaya asked furiously. “I can’t tell you, Shinigami-sama will have my head if I spill before its time!” Yasmine said then gasped that she gave away too much. “What’s before time?” Bethany asked, closing in. “Uh……” Yasmine responded. Bethany held up a small surgery knife holding it at Yasmine’s neck. “Like I said before, I need a new specimen.” Bethany said deviously. Yasmine gulped and said “I really can’t tell you, if I did Shinigami-sama would do a Shinigami-chop on me!!” Rylie took out a rather large book and slapped Yasmine on the head making her squeal in pain. “That hurt!” Yasmine complained angrily. “Just tell us your secret!” Jaya demanded. “Guys I think this is taking it a little too far.” Rachel said. “Shut it Rachel!” Jaya said and turned back to Yasmine. Yasmine had somehow gotten out of the ropes and was making a break for it through the window. She flinched when her friends spotted her escaping. “GET HER!” Rylie said and they chased after her. Yasmine fell out the window, landing in a bush, trying to pick out the leaves that were tangled in her hair. Bethany tackled her but she was able to push her off. “Damn you Yasmine!” Bethany screamed as Yasmine made a break for it. Yasmine pushed a button on her watch, contacting Shinigami-sama. “Help me, my friends are onto me!” Yasmine screamed into her watch. Quick, return back to Shibusen. Kirikou will be waiting for you. Shinigami-sama said. Don’t tell them anything until you get there! Yasmine saluted and said “I won’t let you down Shinigami-sama.” “YASMINE!” Jaya screamed. Yasmine quickly turned a corner before a rock could hit her across the head. Yasmine could see the school closing in and a speck of hope began to show, running faster then before, Yasmine tried getting to the door till she felt a shadow loom over her. Rylie was falling from the sky and tackled her, the two skidding and rolling in front of the door. Rylie head locked Yasmine, screaming “I GOT HER, I GOT HER!” “Ow, can’t breathe!” Yasmine chocked, seeing her friends coming up. Lifting Rylie she ran inside, Rylie eventually falling off. Yasmine ran towards Shinigami-sama’s office, slamming her fists on the door. “HELP, HELP, THEY’RE COMING!” Yasmine screamed. “Password, please.” Kirikou said from the other side. “KIRIKOU, IM ABOUT TO BE MAULED!” Yasmine screamed angrily. Her friends soon arrived, ramming into her till the door fell over. Everyone was on the floor and Yasmine was trying to scurry away. Rachel looked up and found Kirikou sitting in the middle of the room with pot of Fire and Thunder next to him. He sat there looking shocked to see them all piled in. In his lap were five creatures all playing around him. One an otter, an alien creature of some sort, a dragon, a cat and last a golem. The girls looked at the adorable creatures in awe, looking down at Yasmine who eventually got out from the dog pile. “Aww, it was supposed to be a surprise.” Yasmine said sadly. “Thanks anyway Kirikou.” “No problem, they were fun to be around.” Kirikou said. “Thank you guys.” Yasmine said towards Thunder and Fire who ran up and hugged her around her legs. “What’re these guys?” Bethany asked, going for the cat which stared blankly up at her. The cat was small, showing it was a mere kitten, chocolate brown with dark chocolate stripes. It crawled into Bethany’s lap and curled into a ball, sleeping in her lap. “That’s Yamamaya.” Yasmine said. “I found all these adorable creatures when I went for a stroll a few days ago.” “Since when do you go for strolls?” Jaya asked. “Since I grew bored and Shinigami-sama was busy working.” Yasmine complained. The golem flew towards Rachel, landing on her head and seeming to find it comfortable. “That golem seems to like you Rachel.” Yasmine said. “He bit me a few nights ago because I took away his fifth helping of food for the day.” The golem had beautiful angel wings on top of its head, a long tail with a swirly end and a big cross in the middle of its head. It opened its mouth and licked Rachel’s cheek, sort of scaring her. “That explains your bite marks.” Rachel said, seeing the golem’s sharp teeth and remembering the bite marks on Yasmine legs. “The scorch mark was from that little guy.” Yasmine said, holding up a black dragon, who yawned sweetly. Its big green eyes looking at Rylie until it sneezed and fire erupted from its mouth, giving Yasmine another scorch mark on her cheek. Yasmine placed it on her shoulder and Rylie was immediately there to stroke it. Her eyes grew wide at how adorable of a creature who soon slipped its way down Yasmine’s shirt and finding her pocket, hiding there. Rylie chased after it, Yasmine flinching. “IT’S SO DAMN CUTE!” Rylie cried. “I know right, he flew out the window and nearly killed himself in my bedroom.” Yasmine said. “He likes me…” “So that was blood on the floor?” Bethany asked. “No he refused to drink his Kool-Aid and pushed it out of my hands.” Yasmine said. “Another mystery solved.” Jaya said. “What about that one?” Jaya was pointing at the alien, a star shaped head with little chimes on the end, wrapped with yellow silk it seemed. It laid asleep and Yasmine carefully lifted it up and handed it to Jaya. “This is Jirachi.” Yasmine said. “A wish maker apparently, because it healed all my wounds when the other pets were misbehaving.” As it was handed to Jaya its eyes opened giving Jaya a warm smile that could’ve made Jaya exploded from the adorableness it radiated. “It’s…so…cute…” Jaya said. “Yeah, you guys will be great together but he mostly sleeps and rarely eats so you don’t really have to watch him.” Yasmine said. “But he makes this horrible screech whenever he senses danger.” “What about that guy?” Jaya asked, pointing at the little otter hugging Rylie’s calf. The otter was white and blue with a shell on its stomach. Beady black eyes and a rather large nose with blue flippers and glared at the girls. “Oh this is a mijumaru.” Yasmine replied. “He’s been trying to get to Rylie for days, doesn’t like other people.” Rylie picked up the mijumaru who climbed up her arm and on her shoulder. It kissed her cheek and Rylie replied “He’s adorable, his name will be Cedric.” “Wow, what a… interesting creature.” Rachel said. “It’s hideous!” Jaya said bluntly, something inside Cedric seemed to snap and he spat water at her, soaking her. Jaya glared at him and he quickly cowered behind Yasmine. “Violence does nothing of the sort!” Yasmine said before Jaya could attack Cedric. Cedric stuck his tongue out and Jaya nearly roared at him. “Little demon!” Jaya mumbled. “So this is what you’ve been hiding from us?” Bethany asked. “They’re so cute, where’d you find them?!” “I told you, I was taking a stroll in the Forbidden Forest.” Yasmine said. “A place Spirit told you not to go to?” Rachel asked. “Yup!” Yasmine said. “I was walking around the trails that were nipping at my calves till I came across these five; they were surrounded by these weird plant creatures. I saved them and then they wouldn’t stop following me. Shinigami-sama suggested I give each one to you guys. So uh…what do ya think?” Yasmine was suddenly ambushed in a hug by her friends, causing her to fall to the floor. “THANK YOU!” they screamed happily squeezing her. Yasmine laughed and hugged them all back, hearing them scream in pain at her intense strength. “Yasmine let go, I can’t breathe!” Rylie managed to say. “Sorry.” Yasmine said and released her friends who rolled out of her arms. “Thanks Yasmine, they’re so cute.” Rachel said happily. “No problem, besides I can’t handle all of them.” Yasmine said as her dragon popped out from her pocket and blew fire, scorching Yasmine’s cheek for the forth time in her life. © 2011 Imagination-mageAuthor's Note
