Chapter 4: Weapons and Meisters

The girls regrouped once they had returned to Shibusen where they could talk about their night. Yasmine and Bethany went snowboarding with Shinigami-sama and Stein, Yasmine had done a miracle of surviving but Stein and Bethany were looking forward to scattered limbs. Yasmine just couldn’t stop talking about the awesome time she had with Shinigami-sama.

            “And Shinigami-sama did this awesome twirly move in the air, doing six back flips in one jump, he even soared higher in the sky then I could see!” Yasmine said, waving her hands mindlessly in the air.

            “Yes Yasmine, I know.” Bethany said. “I was there.”

            “So how was your guy’s night?” Yasmine asked, looking at Rachel and Rylie. They both froze and looked at the other for a response.

            “Not so good.” Rylie replied.

            “We were horribly scarred.” Rachel said. Yasmine put a comforting hand on both their shoulders and brought them in for a hug.

            “I’m sorry.” Yasmine said.

            “Thanks.” The two said in unison.

            “I can’t wait to have our own house.” Rylie said. “I can’t take Blaire anymore!”

            “She tried getting us to a bar this morning in these s****y outfits she got.” Rachel said, pulling her trench coat closer around her body. “It’s really beginning to get cold huh?”

            “Well its still winter.” Bethany said. “I’m shocked it hasn’t snowed yet.”

Right on cue, a blanket of snow fell on them, covering them all in the white blanket. They retreated back inside Shibusen where they were given jackets by Jaya who seemed to know ahead of time. They wrapped themselves in and sighed at the warmth.

            “Jaya knows all.” Yasmine said in amazement.

            “Yes, I do Yasmine.” Jaya said patting Yasmine’s head. Jaya’s jacket was now long and had fake animal fur on the inside with matching gloves that looked like paws, the hood over her head. Yasmine wore a simply black jacket with Shinigami-sama’s masks printed on them; it was rather large with many pockets. Rachel’s trench coat also automatically had fake animal skin on the inside; coming with black gloves and buttoned itself up. Bethany and Rylie wore the same jacket as Yasmine except they were different colors; Bethany’s red with Hello Kitty printed on it and Rylie a neon green that glowed in the dark.

            “So Jaya how was your night at Tsubaki and Black Star’s?” Rachel asked, everyone huddling in.

            “Well it was going perfectly fine till Black Star had to be an imbecile and destroy the flowers Tsubaki got me!” Jaya said, clenching her fists. “So I made him get me more.”

            “Oh, how awesome but must’ve been difficult considering it was Black Star who smashed them.” Rylie said.

            “Yeah he’s always so full of himself.” Bethany said.

            “Oh I beat him up.” Jaya said bluntly receiving a loud laugh from Yasmine who quickly covered her mouth. Jaya glared at Yasmine and slapped her shoulder.

            “You, emphasis on you Jaya Miller, beat up Black Star?” Bethany said. “The ninja of the dark arts?”

            “I find that hard to believe.” Rylie said crossing her arms. “I’d believe that pigs could fly or even Yasmine better than that.”

            “I really did.” Jaya said.

            “Sure you did.” Yasmine said then looked over her shoulder. Yasmine’s eyes glittered with excitement when she spotted someone else she’s been dying to meet, a girl with unruly like pinkish purple hair wearing a rather tight black dress with cuffs on the ends. Her light pink eyes looked around the school nervously as she tried finding her way to her class.

            “Yasmine, hey Yasmine!” Jaya said snapping her fingers in Yasmine face. Yasmine lightly shoved Jaya out of the way and walked towards the girl who constantly looked at a small note in her hands.

            “Yasmine, where are you go--” Rachel said till she followed Yasmine’s gaze. “Oh god, Chrona.”

            “What?” Rylie asked and Rachel pointed over at the girl Yasmine was trailing after. “Oh gods, Yasmine don’t do it!”

Rachel and Rylie quickly ran for Yasmine as Yasmine began to pick up speed. Yasmine jumped up on the staircase and tried getting to Chrona before she disappeared among the students. Yasmine jumped over heads with new found ninja instincts and lunged towards Chrona, who was too focused on the slip of paper in her hands. Yasmine was suddenly intercepted by Rachel, who jumped and caught her around the waist, causing the two to fall and collide in the wall. Yasmine got up and tried loosening Rachel’s grip.

            “Rachel, let go.” Yasmine said through gritted teeth.

            “Promise you won’t kill Chrona, she’s fragile!” Rachel said. “Just look at her!”

Chrona turned around and shivered as she made eye contact with Rachel, making her run down the stairs. Yasmine poked Rachel in the side making her squeal, retreat into a corner and give Yasmine the opportunity to run.

            “Rylie, it’s all up to you!” Rachel called.

As Yasmine was running by, Rylie had hidden herself in the shadows. As Yasmine passed, Rylie lunged and tackled Yasmine who fell on Chrona. The three crumbled to the floor and Chrona didn’t know how to deal with it.

            “Wh-wh-who are you?” Chrona asked nervously.

            “I am so sorry.” Rylie said.

            “I’m Yasmine nice to meet you.” Yasmine said getting up and shaking Chrona’s hand, Rylie was shocked that she hadn’t tackled Chrona with a hug. Chrona shyly shook back with a small smile and said “Oh y-you must be n-new.”

            “Yes, yes we are.”  Yasmine said. “I hope we can see you again in classes, okay?”

Chrona looked at Yasmine with surprise. Yasmine just smiled and turned to go back to her group. Before Yasmine disappeared, Chrona called “W-wait!”

Yasmine stopped and turned, saying “Yes?”

            “U-Umm…maybe we could…hang out…” Chrona said then added quickly. “If you want to!”

            “I’d love that.” Yasmine said. “But we’d need to plan that out; I’m busy with Shinigami-sama.”

            “A-are you in trouble?” Chrona asked, she sounded worried.

Yasmine gave a quick laugh and said “No, Shinigami-sama and I are friends.”

            “Ah…” Chrona said. “I-I think I get it.”

            “Great, now I’d better get to class.” Yasmine said. “See you later.”

Yasmine hugged Chrona and walked back with Rylie towards their friends. Rachel stared in shock as Yasmine helped her up.

            “I expected you to tackle her.” Rachel said.

            “I expected you to accidentally push her down the stairs.” Rylie said. “What made you stop?”

            “Chrona’s so fragile and I’d feel terrible if I made her break something.” Yasmine said. “So yeah, I’ll give her time.”

The bell rang and the girls headed to class.

          Through class Yasmine constantly made origami ninja stars and put them all in her bag. Bethany sat next to Rylie while Rachel sat next to Jaya leaving Yasmine alone. They were in Stein’s class of anatomy where they would be learning the insides of a human in their case animal. Everyone was given the choice to work with someone to dissect a bird. But soon, someone slipped into the seat next to Yasmine. Bethany turned finding the boy sliding seats to get closer. A smirk spread across her face and she nudged Rylie to take a look. Rylie turned and said “Looks like Yasmine’s got an admirer.”

Yasmine was too oblivious to really notice him.

            “Hey, Yasmine!” Rachel called, Yasmine perking up and the boy freezing in place.

            “Yes?” Yasmine called back.

            “Come here for a second, I don’t understand Steins instructions.” Rachel said. Yasmine got up and got to her friend, they were dissecting a bird that was going extinct. The bird looked up at them sadly, catching the hearts of the three girls.

            “I called you down here to do the honors.” Rachel said, handing Yasmine the knife. Yasmine tried slicing the little bird’s stomach but then said “I can’t do it…”

            “But you were up there doing ninja stars, I thought you were done!” Jaya said.

            “I let mine go free…” Yasmine said and the girls sadly sighed.

            “Let’s just take the F and be done with it.” Rachel said. Bethany suddenly loomed over them and said “I’ll help you.”

            “Really?” the girls asked happily.

            “Yeah, I’ll dissect it for you!” Bethany said lifting up the knife so she could jab the birds heart making the girls scream. Yasmine stopped her and tried taking the knife from her hands.

            “Birds have lives!” Yasmine said.

            “You hate birds!” Bethany said.

            “This bird is cute and deserves to live!” Yasmine said. “Pigeons are the ones to die.”

Bethany tried pushing the blade at the bird trying to pierce its stomach. Yasmine then tackled Bethany, Bethany tugging at Yasmine face and Yasmine pinching her arm. Rachel and Jaya had to separate them. Rachel slapped Yasmine’s hands and said “Bad Yasmine!”

            “She started it!” Yasmine said like a five year old.

            “Did not!” Bethany said. “Rachel, she’s making lies!”

            “Yasmine apologize.” Rachel commanded.

Yasmine crossed her arms and turned her back on Bethany saying “Sorry.”

            “MAKA CHOP!” Bethany said and slapped Yasmine on the head with her textbook. Yasmine crumbled to the floor as Bethany laughed triumphantly. Rachel looked at Bethany in disbelief and said “Bethany!”

            “SHINIGAMI CHOP!” Yasmine said, slamming her hand on Bethany’s head making her go to the floor. The two then broke out fighting, Yasmine slapping Bethany’s head and Bethany hitting Yasmine with her book. Yasmine was then grabbed around the waist and lifted from the ground, the same happening to Bethany.

            “Okay, let’s calm down.” the boy who was carrying her said. 

            “Please Bethany calm down.” Kid said, lifting Bethany out of the scene. Yasmine and Bethany were still trying to land hits on each other. Yasmine waving her fists in the air till she accidently punched the boy holding her, who fell back and released her. Bethany had been freed as well from Kid, simply by putting a straight pencil out of place giving him a nose bleed and faint. Jaya and Rachel tended to the two boys while Rylie chased after the two, Yasmine chasing after Bethany and Bethany laughing at her, avoiding all attempts at catching her. Bethany soon burst through the doors, outside of the school with Yasmine following her. Bethany stayed a distance as Yasmine tried slapping her again. Bethany jumped back and did another Maka Chop on Yasmine. Yasmine was growing frustrated and she began waving her hands in the air. Subconsciously, her hand turned into a giant mallet. Yasmine charged, shocking Bethany.

            “SHINIGAMI CHOP!” Yasmine screamed, the mallet face had a picture of Shinigami-sama’s mask. Bethany quickly got out of the way before getting smashed by the massive thing.

            “Whoa.” Bethany said. Yasmine was tired and the mallet disappeared, Yasmine looked shocked as well. Yasmine fell back and breathed heavily, Bethany walking to her side. Bethany gave Yasmine a hand and helped her up.

            “That was awesome!” Bethany said.

            “I-I guess so.” Yasmine said, feeling her head. “But the shinigami chop really took a lot out of me.”

            “Hey before ya pass out, why not be my weapon?” Bethany said.

            “Sure, you’ll give me the rage I need.” Yasmine said with a smile. Yasmine hugged Bethany, squeezing her.

            “OW, OW!” Bethany said and Yasmine dropped her. Their friends came outside, seeing they finally made up.

            “Its good to see you guys make up.” Rachel said.

            “Yeah, I can’t take having to try and separate you guys.” Jaya said.

            “I’m a weapon!” Yasmine said suddenly.

            “That’s great Yasmine.” Rylie said, patting Yasmine on the head. “So what weapon?”

            “A mallet…A LAVI MALLET!” Yasmine said happily. “Bethany’s gonna be the technician.”

            “Yup.” Bethany said bluntly and slapped a Hello Kitty sticker on Yasmine’s forehead.

            “What’s this for?” Yasmine asked.

            “Just to show the world that you belong to me.” Bethany said with a sweet smile. “Now, let’s get back to class shall we?”

She led her friends back inside the school where they were intercepted by Stein, he had his hands crossed and Spirit stood beside him.

            “You fought in my class?” Stein asked.

            “Yes….” Yasmine said sadly.

Stein just rolled his eyes and said “Well, since it’s only your first days, I’ll let you off with a warning.”

Stein ruffled out their hair and went to Bethany, he said “Oh I’ll be meeting you at my house at ten then?”

            “Sure, I’ll meet you there.” Bethany said.

As Stein passed, Rachel asked “What’re you doing at Stein’s?”

            “Oh we’re going to dissect a dodo bird.” Bethany said.

            “Aren’t those going extinct?” Rylie asked.

            “Yeah.” Bethany said gleefully. “Now come on, let’s get back to class.”

As Bethany led them back, Rylie said “I’m afraid that Stein’s gonna be a bad influence on Bethany.”

            “Good luck Yasmine.” Jaya said towards Yasmine and they headed back to class.
