Chapter Twenty Five

The castle was currently being rebuilt, Rylie being upgraded to general of the Toradora army. The twins had resigned from their royal blood and given the crown to Bethany who was now formally known as the Vampire Queen. The twins sat beside her, her royal subjects. The maids and servants were currently helping with rebuilding the castle; many soldiers went searching for the hidden island that was Edolas. 

            “Hey, B-mel.” Rylie said, coming in to get her armor fixed. Bethany had a platter of doughnuts on the side. Bethany took a bite; sucking the inside out like a vampire would and ate the small remains after. Once done with replacing the dented metals on her dress, Rylie walked towards her and asked “How do you like being queen?”

            “Hmm, it’s nice.” Bethany said.

            “Look…I need to talk to you…” Rylie said.

            “Okay.” Bethany said.

            “Alone.” Rylie continued.

            “Oh, right.” Bethany said and waved the twins off. She rose from her throne and straightened out her crown. She walked down from the little staircase and found her place besides Rylie who led the way outside the castle grounds. They walked along the grassy planes, getting waves from the citizens that inhabited Toradora. Bethany waved, acting like a queen till the reached the forest. Rylie continued leading, Bethany suddenly becoming suspicious.

            “Are you hiding something from me Rylie?” Bethany asked, raising an eye brow. Rylie stopped, listening and getting her gun ready.

            “Actually yes, I’ve been hiding something.” Rylie replied. “Re-remember when the Dragon Queen attacked and she claimed that we were keeping one of her dragon’s hostage?”

            “Yeah, which we weren’t.” Bethany said, barring her teeth.

            “Eh he, he, he, well…” Rylie said, pulling away some green and revealing Patricia who seemed to be waiting. But once spotting Bethany she bared her teeth and lunged, Bethany getting in front and pushing Rylie away as she got her mace ready.

            “No!!” Rylie screamed, grabbing Bethany around the waist and pushing her over, out of Patricia’s range. The dragon landed swiftly on its feet, turning around like a shark and getting ready to attack again. Rylie put her hands up and water protected her, freezing with her fingers flexed and Patricia slammed into it. She screeched angrily, releasing green balls of fire at the ice shield. Rylie started shushed Patricia, trying to calm her down.

            “She’s a friend, friend.” Rylie said, Patricia seeming to understand. The ice shield melted and Patricia remained where she was, Rylie walking beside her and scratching Patricia behind the ea.

            “What the hell?!” Bethany bellowed.

            “Shh, you’ll startle her!” Rylie scolded.

            “Rylie, your pet is the enemy of Toradora and the reason why the king is dead.” Bethany said bluntly. “I hate dragons.”

            “Patricia’s different!” Rylie said and walked towards Bethany, pulling her close and whispering “It was my fault that the Dragon Queen came and attacked Toradora; but I didn’t know Patricia was missing!”

            “Well, return her!” Bethany said. “Before she finds out that we still have it.”

Patricia growled irritably but Rylie kept her back from lunging at her. Bethany only growled back and asked “So why is this b*^#@ here anyway?”

            “I was hoping she’d help the Dragon Queen see that humans and vampires weren’t that different from dragons…” Rylie said.

            “We’re different cause were sanitary, we’re not scaly, and we’re not hideous!” Bethany said, Patricia then reaching her breaking point. She lunged, tackling Bethany to the ground and the two rolled around. Patricia was able to knock Bethany’s mace from her hands but Bethany smashed her head against Patricia’s, making Patricia back off. The two circled each other, Bethany’s vampire eyes gleaming and ready to kill. As they were about to collide, Rylie of course intervened. She shoved one of her guns in Patricia’s open mouth and her other pistol point at Bethany’s forehead.

            “Agree you’ll get along or I’ll fire.” Rylie threatened.

            “What?!” Bethany said, looking at Rylie with disbelief.

Patricia roared, showing the disbelief in her eyes as well as she felt Rylie’s finger inch the trigger back.

            “Just do it!” Rylie demanded.

The two rivals looked at one another but soon backed away, Rylie putting her guns away and continuing “I will take her back to Edolas without the Dragon Queen noticing okay?”

            “Fine, but that’s if you can find it!” Bethany said. “No on knows where it is except the dragons.”

            “Then Patricia will know.” Rylie said. Patricia nodded, her ears suddenly going up at a familiar screech that was faint but clear enough to make out it was another dragon.

            “She came back?!” Bethany said and raced back to the castle. Rylie followed along with Patricia who began to take flight. She flapped her wings and picked Rylie up as well, throwing her on her back and soaring.

            “Get Bethany!” Rylie instructed, Patricia unwillingly going in for Bethany and grabbing her by the dress. She tossed her into the air and Bethany safely landed on her back.

            “Follow that roar!” Bethany said and Patricia flying faster into the sky.

            Patricia landed near the docks, her tail covering the glowing end and her scales rustling with excitement.

            “What’s wrong?” Rylie asked.

Patricia only cooed and soon dashed off, suddenly spotting a figure. She lunged soon tackling the figure to the ground and the two rolling. Bethany and Rylie raced towards them, having their weapons ready. They only came across another dragon that resembled Patricia except not bearing the marking or glowing tail as Patricia did.

            “Another one?” Rylie asked, Patricia eagerly licking the dragons face who seemed to be trying to push her off. The dragon achieved it and rolled back on its feet, growling at Rylie and Bethany who braced themselves for anything.

            “Hiccup, Hiccup what’s wrong?” A voice called from behind the hill. The two looked up only to see a girl wearing a nurse’s uniform and apron around her waist, a hat on top of her dark brown hair and her hair done in two loops in the back. She was wearing bulky black boots with white stocking on her feet and raced towards said dragon Hiccup. Hiccup backed away from Patricia who seemed to be trying to get him to hold still.

            “Hiccup, will you stop messing with your girlfriend and come here.” The girl said, laughing.

            “Sarah, we need to hurry up and find a way in!” another voice called, revealing a boy with dull light brown hair, wearing a baggy loose blue blouse and brown pants, boots on his feet and chocolate brown eyes. The two humans looked at Bethany and Rylie in shock.

            “We’ve been spotted.” The girl, Sarah said. The boy grabbed a dagger that seemed to be strapped to his side.

            “Lower your weapons.” Bethany said. “State yourselves.”

            “I-I’m Sarah and this is my friend Brandt.” Sarah said.

Rylie leaned into Bethany and whispered “Sarah was one of our friends.”

            “I’m fully aware Rylie.” Bethany whispered back. “But you never know, they could be tricking us, I’ll test them.”

Bethany returned her attention to the other two and said “I’ll be questioning you Sarah, you ready?”

            “U-Uh…” Sarah started.

            “Excellent, lets begin!” Bethany said. “What’s Bethany Coady’s favorite merchandise?”

            “He-Hello Kitty.” Sarah replied. “At least the Bethany I know.”

            “Next, what is Rylie’s favorite number?” Bethany asked.

            “Three.” Sarah replied.

            “What’s Rachel Wilder’s favorite food?” Bethany asked.

            “Unknown, she likes almost any food.” Sarah replied.

            “What’s Jaya Millers dream?” Bethany asked.

            “To marry all her favorite celebrities and if possible anime character, living in a large mansion and being an actor on Broadway.” Sarah replied.

            “Who’s Yasmine’s favorite anime guy?” Bethany asked.

            “I don’t know, she always says you never ask an anime geek that question!” Sarah replied, shaking now.

            “Last question….” Bethany said. “What is your last name?”

            “…Hollenbeck.” Sarah replied.

            “IT’S HER!!” Rylie cried happily, racing over and tackling Sarah in a hug. She fell back and looked at Rylie in confusion.

            “Sarah it’s us.” Bethany said. “Bethany Coady and Rylie Scheigh, the best kick a$$ in our little posse.”

Sarah looked up in disbelief before tears began to roll down her cheeks. She hugged Rylie tightly and sniffled, Brandt looked down but looking happy. Bethany soon helped them up and replied “We should talk in private, shall we?”

Sarah nodded, wiping her eyes dry and being helped up by Brandt.

            “Who’re you?” Rylie asked.

            “I’m Brandt as Sarah has already said.” Brandt said, and then turned back to Sarah. “We need to hurry up.”

            “Why’re you in such a hurry, we just got back together.” Rylie asked.

            “We’re trying to rescue Rachel and Jaya also Yasmine.” Sarah explained.

            “You met them too?! Where are they?” Bethany asked, getting excited.

Sarah looked around, soon clapping towards Hiccup who was being pounced on by Patricia eventually push her off and race towards Sarah getting a pat on the head from her.

            “We should go somewhere else.” Sarah said. “I’ll explain everything.”

            “Anywhere that’s private?” Brandt asked.

            “Follow me.” Rylie said and led the way.

Well this is going to go swimmingly.It's a shame neither Rachel nor Jaya are queens or leaders of anything, they seem a whole lot less significant than the other pairs. I guess that makes it a good thing you wrote their part first. I am very excited for the Final Battle, it's hard not just skipping ahead to it!

Okay, I, for one, did not know Rylie's fav. # was 3. I like how you put in the question about what anime guy you like, me saying that it is unknown and that you should never ask an anime geek that question. I loved it! Keep it up!
