Chapter Sixteen

Brandt made tea in the kitchen not really believing what happened today all at once too and it was still the morning going into lunch time. The house was quiet, he expected to be lots of talking but everyone seemed to be as surprised as he was. Brandt served up the tea and the two girls drank the tea. He found Yasmine gazing into the fire in his fire place, looking dazed as if in deep thought. Jaya looked over at Yasmine and asked “What happened to her?”

“A lot of things happened to Yasmine while she was in Edolas.” Sarah said. “But to make a long story short, have you by any chance heard about the dragon queen?”

“Yeah, Lavi told me a few things about her. But it all added up to her being dead.” Jaya said.

“Well she’s not dead.” Sarah said.

“Then where is she?” Rachel asked.

Brandt looked over at Yasmine who continued looking into the flames. Rachel and Jaya found it hard to believe.

“She can’t be the Dragon Queen!” Jaya said bluntly.

“She is!” Brandt protested. “She was able to summon a dragon army just by singing, she calmed down the fiercest one alive just by kissing its snout, and she even got me to befriend a dragon!”

“Ah it was nothing.” Yasmine said finally coming out of her trance. She turned her back at the fire and finally joined their conversation.

“Yasmine you can’t be the Dragon Queen, she’s dead.” Rachel said.

“No she disappeared.” Yasmine clarified, not realizing she already knew. “You see there is no original Dragon Queen because the power always gets passed down to whoever finds Edolas after the death of the Dragon Queen. I don’t really know why though…”

“What’s your proof of being the Dragon Queen?” Jaya asked.

Yasmine exhaled and smoke erupted from her mouth. A black dragon tail rolled from her spine and her hands and feet turned darker, scales spreading all over. Her fingers and toes were replaced with black claws and her feet becoming like her hands. Her pupils became slits and her teeth sharpened, wings spread out and her ears were replaced with long flab’s that went up when happy or down when upset, her skin covered in scales.

“This enough proof?” Sarah asked.

“Well…. yeah, but I expected myself to be more frightened.” Rachel said.

“Don’t be, please.” Yasmine begged getting up and walking towards them. Yasmine sat on Rachel’s lap and continued “It’s hard to be part dragon and part human. Everyone here would freak and if they freak, I scream sending an army and guess what goes down in flames?”

“Toradora?” Rachel and Jaya said.

“Yup and I’ll be sad cause I killed all types of people. Even the one I love Brandt.” Yasmine said, rather dreamily on the last part.

“What?” Brandt asked.

“Nothing, I said the meat that I love, can never get enough fish!” Yasmine said. “Besides you guys need to get out of here!”

“Why?” Jaya asked. “We just reunited with two of our friends; we’re not leaving you guys.”

“We’ll be fine.” Yasmine said. “I don’t want you here for the war though! I can’t go but take Sarah with you.”

“I’m staying with you Yasmine; you guys just need to warn the people you’re with!” Sarah said. “Zelda’s falling apart.”

Suddenly the house rumbled and Yasmine quickly returned to her human form. Brandt went to the door and opened it. He saw all his people running to battle, the dragons swarming the skies. Yasmine growled under her breath and said “I told them we’re not fighting.”

“Look it’s the Dragon Queen!” someone screamed at the sight of Yasmine. Spears were soon pointing at Brandt and everyone around him. He tried pushing Yasmine out of the way mumbling “Get out of here, get Hiccup and run!”

“Hiccup?” Jaya asked.

“You need to get out of here, we’ll be fine!” Sarah said. Brandt tossed Sarah a bag who unleashed the collar, clipping it around Yasmine neck who took flight. Sarah grabbed Rachel’s hand and flew, Jaya grabbing onto Rachel’s. Brandt was hanging onto the end as they flew into the storm of dragons. Hiccup suddenly came, Brandt and Sarah hopping on. Yasmine saluted them and they flew their separate ways.

Yasmine had gotten to Pandora without being detected by any unwanted visitors. She said her last goodbyes and soon flew off to find the cause of her dragon’s behavior. Yasmine dug under her shirt finding the folded clothes Tiny was nice enough to get for her. She arrived at Edolas, changing into the new clothes. She now wore a black top that revealed her back and was tied around her back and waist with no sleeves. She wore big white parachute pants with a long black flab in between with the kanji for queen written on it. She looked up at the volcano seeing her dragons going into a frenzy. The dragons froze, looking terrified suddenly.

“What is it?” Yasmine asked till a shadow overcame her. She turned, finding an old woman fall, a red ruby in her hand. Yasmine screamed as the woman shoved the ruby into Yasmine mouth, forcing her to swallow. The ruby went down like a rock of course but it burned. Yasmine went to her knees, soon howling in pain as the stone slowly penetrated her mind and soul until Yasmine keeled over. Her eyes were wide and a insane smile was on her face. The dragons backed away, fearing their newly transformed mistress.

“Kill all in Toradora.” The old woman said, Yasmine merely nodding. She inhaled deeply and released a banshee roar that reverberated through the land of Edolas, ready to kill all….
