Chapter FourteenA Chapter by Imagination-mageSarah arrived back, only finding Yasmine and Brandt gone. She told Hiccup to stay with the dragons as she raced into Berk. She found Brandt carrying a large pail of water. She raced towards him, grabbing him by the shirt and asking “Where’s Yasmine?!” Brandt remained only bringing closer to an angered Sarah. “Brandt, where’s Yasmine?” Sarah asked again. “BRANDT~~” Yasmine sang from inside. Brandt stiffened and turned back calling “I’M COMING YASMINE!” Sarah was glaring at Brandt who just shrugged and welcomed her inside. His house was a two story house with a narrow staircase. The kitchen and living room were morphed with each other; the décor was padded with axes and dragon teeth for a chandelier. Brandt led Sarah into the kitchen, finding Yasmine waiting for him, Cilan happily making her meals. Yasmine tackled Sarah with a hug and said “You’re just in time for dinner!” “Wonderful to see you again Sarah.” Cilan greeted warmly. “Brandt she was supposed to stay underground!” Sarah scolded. “Sorry, she followed me when I was taken away by my fiancé.” Brandt said, almost gagging at the word fiancé. “I can’t take her back now though, everyone knows she’s here.” “Besides your dad.” Yasmine pointed out. “When are we gonna eat?” Cilan cooked the meat and Brandt continued “That’s why you are a secret from my dad, If he knew you were in here he’d think I was leading a double life.” “Which you are.” Yasmine said. The meat soon finished and Cilan put the meats on their plates, Yasmine’s hands turning into dragon claws and digging into the meat while Cilan used a fork and knife. “Miss Yasmine is it? I have a question for you?” Cilan said after only one slice of meat. “Mmhmm?” Yasmine asked with a mouthful. “If you truly are the dragon queen, you must know what happened that made you disappear for so long.” Cilan said. “No, the dragon queen title is always passed down to the next worthy girl who finds Edolas.” Yasmine responded. “Only one with Ancient powers can though… Why do you ask?” “Because my brother and I are Ancients.” Cilan said. “What’s that?” Yasmine asked. “Ancients are beings who posses the ability of the four elements.” Brandt said. “But they disappeared long ago without a trace. The last dragon queen was an Ancient.” “So Yasmine, that makes you an Ancient.” Sarah said. “So Cilan, you’re an Ancient along with Brandt?” “Yes, fire and plant actually.” Cilan said. “My father was earth while my mother was fire but I only have a small fraction of Ancient in me, same with Brandt.” “So you know what happened to them?” Skye asked. Yasmine shook her head sadly, rubbing her wound. Sarah got a wash cloth, drenched it with cold water and commenced cleaning her wound which was healing quickly. Cilan smiled and said “Sarah’s always the one who brings happiness to all and heals all. I thank you for your good heart.” Cilan rose from his seat and kissed Sarah on her cheek shocking Yasmine, Brandt and even Sarah whose face was a new shade of red. Yasmine had forgotten about her food, her mouth open and blushing a bit herself. “What was that?” Brandt asked, embarrassed at his brother’s action and what he just witnessed. “What, don’t you do that as thanks to a lovely young woman?” Cilan asked curiously. “Of course not.” “I’m going to bed…” Sarah said, getting up and going upstairs. “Me too.” Yasmine said, pushing her plate away and following Sarah upstairs.
* * * * * Two months had passed and Yasmine was always out, going off to check on her dragons, staying there for days then returning with a few scorch marks. Cilan soon left the house early in the morning, sneaking into Yasmine and Sarah’s room, kissing Sarah on her forehead making her blush in her sleep. Sarah was at first worried, saying he should’ve stayed but Yasmine somehow calmed her down. Brandt was in his blacksmith making a spiked collar for Yasmine with a bulky chain attached to it. He was making it just in case because she had nearly killed Mickey three times. Yasmine of course barged in and asked “What chya making?” “A collar.” Brandt said, holding it up. The spikes on the side gleamed in the sunlight and Yasmine said “That’s a rather big one.” Brandt clamped the collar around her neck and Yasmine grunted when he let it rest on her shoulders. It was heavy. “What’s this for?” Yasmine asked, tugging at it. “Sarah had me make it for emergencies.” Brandt replied. “She’s been having more and more nightmares lately.” “I know, she wakes up screaming every night.” Yasmine said. “Always dreams about Rachel and Jaya dying or Rylie and Bethany winning wars….Both very believable.” Brandt laughed and looked at the time. “Oh shoot I’m late!” Brandt said and took off his leather apron, hanging it on the side and putting his gloves away as well. He quickly put his tools in place and unclipped the collar from Yasmine’s neck. “Where’re you going?” Yasmine asked. “Swords fighting lessons.” Brandt replied and dashed out. Yasmine at first just stood there, then walked out returning back inside the house. Sarah was in the kitchen, making another remedy till Yasmine gave her the collar. “Oh Brandt finished it!” Sarah said and placed the collar in a bag. “So you did ask him to make it.” Yasmine said. “Yeah, these dreams are beginning to torture me.” Sarah said. “By the way, where’s Brandt?” “He went to take sword fighting lessons.” Yasmine replied. She collapsed on the floor looking into the fireplace. Sarah ruffled out Yasmine’s hair and said “How’re the dragons?” “Angry, they don’t like me going out to the humans.” Yasmine said. “They want war now but I keep telling them no, it’s hard because they hate every single human besides you Sarah.” “You’ll find a way.” Sarah said, patting Yasmine’s shoulder. Yasmine then smelled an unwanted scent and looked out the window, seeing Mickey’s blond head. “Oh god….” Yasmine said and Sarah followed her gaze. Mickey instantly ran, Sarah running towards the window and looking out. Mickey had disappeared and a horrible feeling was tugging at Sarah’s stomach. “Yasmine you need to go into hiding!” Sarah said. Yasmine didn’t understand it till they heard hard knocking on the door. Sarah pushed Yasmine upstairs and into Skye’s room. The knocking became more intense and Sarah quickly answered the door. “Yes?” Sarah asked, her face glowing happily. She came to a buff woman who had long blond hair braided down her back and wearing battle armor like Mickey who was behind her with a smug grin on her face. “My daughter says she saw a dragon in here.” The woman said, letting herself in. “Dragon, here, I highly doubt that.” Sarah said following. Mickey was looking around the house as well. They checked the kitchen and living room, finding no evidence till Mickey said “Let’s check upstairs.” Sarah swallowed hard as the two went up the stairs and looked into the bedroom. They came to Brandt’s room and kicked open the door making Sarah nearly scream till she saw no one was in there. The two went through Brandt’s room, checking under his bed and around his work space, only finding blue prints and sketches of inventions. The woman sniffed the air and said “It smells like brim stone in here.” Sarah looked up, seeing Yasmine cling to one of the pillars that kept the roof together. Yasmine was biting back her lip from lashing out at these two women but the warning on Sarah’s face told her no. Mickey kicked over a trunk in front of Brandt’s bed, looking inside it only finding papers. “There are no dragons here.” The woman said glaring down at Mickey. “Terribly sorry for suspecting you.” Sarah released the breath she was holding and said “Oh no its fine.” With that the woman left with Mickey behind her, Mickey cursing under her breath. Sarah gave Yasmine thumbs up and Yasmine flew down to the floor. “That chick is beginning to annoy the living crap out of me.” Yasmine said referring to Mickey. “Well don’t worry, they’re gone.” Sarah said. “Nothing to worry about.”
* * * * * “Mom you know there’s a dragon in there!” Mickey scolded at her mother as they went farther and farther from the house. “Yes I know but I can’t act to rashly.” Her mom said. “Here’s what I want you to do, send a letter to the Black Order telling them that Brandt is housing a dragon. They’ll find it and arrest him.” Mickey gave a sly grin and said “Your good mom.” The two high fived as they made their way back home, not realizing Hiccup was listening to their plans. He flew angrily back to the underground home to warn the other dragons. © 2011 Imagination-mage |
