Chapter Two

Siana blinked a few times before finding herself staring at a never ending white. Creatures floated overhead, she felt movement on her stomach.

            “Ugh…” Siana grumbled.

            “Sorry, Tallon’s on top.” Riley mumbled. Tallon was spread out but the two ninth graders noticed some change to him. He now wore a baggy orange shirt and black baggy khakis, orange boots on his feet, they were only able to recognize him from the goggles he wore around his neck, a bandana tied around his hair as he slowly came too. He rolled off the ninth graders and sat on his knees, rubbing his head.

            “Ow, feels like I was hit with a rock.” Tallon said, he blinked a couple of times before taking in the surroundings. “Where exactly are we?”

            “Uh…Don’t know.” Riley replied. He looked to his left and a giant screen appeared in the sky, someone was currently on Facebook. Riley tugged at Siana’s sleeve and pointed up.

            “Look.” Riley said.

            “Is that a Facebook page?” Siana questioned.

            “And an EBay page, and a Yahoo page, an Amazon, a Google…” Tallon pointed out, millions of pages appearing and spreading out. More and more of the bizarre creatures appeared, seeming to chat, have tea or coffee and occasionally fight. A large ring would surround them with the words Fight Zone on the bottom and soon a whole stadium would appear.

            “Guys…” Tallon said. “I-I think were in a game.”

            “More like the Internet.” Riley said. “That Kenji guy set us up!”

            “No, Tallon’s right.” Siana said. “Look, the Internet doesn’t have a giant volt that contains top secret information on the government.”

Siana pointed to the heart or core of the world they were currently in. A large oval headed shape that had all the shops or houses connected with vibrant eyes and a large smile. A key hole was in the center but no signs of keys. Tallon began walking off, going to a random creature who was a monkey but stood on its two feet like a human. It was currently multitasking, writing notes and a holding a cup of coffee in its tail, wearing safari clothes with a hat and all.

            “Excuse me, but can you help us?” Tallon asked.

            “Oh, uh, what can I do?” the monkey asked. “What exactly are you guys?”

            “…People?” Tallon said, the monkey only laughing.

            “That’s impossible, your in Oz we go by avatars.” The monkey said. “A whole network that’s connected to all things electronic; subways, streetlights, internet, game boys, ect. Here you can socialize, make a home and keep all work information through your avatar almost like your living a second life on some far off planet.”

Tallon nodded, rubbing his chin and asking “So…we’re inside a network that’s tied to all things electronic in the world….Why does this story line sound so familiar?”

            “Summer Wars.” Siana suddenly said, getting Tallon and Riley’s attention. “Yasmine’s favorite movie!”

            “Oh right!” Tallon said. “Wait, so all this time that was real?”

            “Apparently so.” Siana said. “We gotta find the others and get home.”

A door suddenly appeared, a large crowd of avatars appearing. They carried them away, off to a stadium.

            “I’m putting my bets on King Kazuma!” one said.

            “I don’t know…That Cheshire character is really putting up a fight.” Another said.

            “I guess you can place bets here too…” Siana mumbled.

            “And apparently auction off other avatars…” Tallon said, looking up. On screen were four female avatars all looking worried. They each had a collar around their necks to ensure they wouldn’t escape. The screen then changed, showing a race between two avatars, a rabbit and cat.

            “Ironic…” Siana said. “But that rabbit must be the King Kazuma everyone’s talking about.”

            “By the way Tallon, you look cool.” Riley said.

            “I know right?” Tallon said, taking too much pride in his new look. “Siana looks different too, so do you Riley.”

Siana and Riley happened to pass a mirror avatar, being able to see what they looked like as well. Siana’s hair had grown remarkably long, turning green and looking like a leaf at the end, a sleeveless top and beige shorts with matching boots on her feet. Riley’s hair was now a leaf green, wearing a baggy green shirt and khaki’s with green boots as well, a large green bag that looked like a bud was on his back.

            “Wow…” The two said in unison. They were soon shrouded in darkness, going up and soon being seated. They watched the race from the higher seating and were watching on two separate screens featuring the two competitors. They watched the feline one take down a large ogre, slicing at the eye and hanging on as the beast fell, blocking the rabbit’s way. As Siana watched, she felt the sudden urge that she was being watched. She turned, soon seeing the creature that kidnapped her friends. Siana sat up and quickly made her way out of her seat.

            “What?” Riley asked, him and Tallon following.

            “I saw that guy!” Siana said. “Come on, we need to get back stage!”

            Yasmine dodged a kick that was aimed at her head, easily catching the foot and flipping him. As Kazuma fell on his back, Yasmine elbowed him in the stomach. She quickly ran, her legs were sore but she tried ignoring the pain. The finish line was now in sight and she refused to give up. Yasmine panted as she pushed herself faster. As she was about to go into a sprint, a shadow loomed over her. Yasmine turned, only to see Kazuma fall on top of her. Yasmine landed on her front, a painful sounding smack echoing through the stadium. Everyone cringed at the sound, Yasmine forcing herself to look Kazuma in the eye. They were red and stared at her with a look that could kill.

            “Stay down.” He said, without moving his lips. He had a good grip on Yasmine but Yasmine tried worming her way out of his grip. She got one of her arms free, digging her long talons into his red vest. She threw him off, quickly getting to her feet and quickly getting to finish which was a large button that she had to get to and press which would stop the clock. Kazuma was right beside her, the two bumping and trying to elbow the other away. They both reached out, only centimeters from the button, the whole crowd holding their breath.

            Sarah was sitting on a bench, Rachel, Jaya and Bethany around her. Sarah’s eyes were currently red from crying and the three were waiting for the moment of truth that would decided whether Sarah would finally give information on the Time Gears or them being free.

            “It’s gonna be okay.” Rachel said.

Rachel wore all white, a sleeveless top with long lace up white boots on her feet; baggy pants and her hair had white streaks in her brown hair. Jaya wore an identical top except black and her eyes were an electric blue, wearing a lacy skirt with short black pants and a large over coat on. Bethany was pacing the room, it was dark and she was getting agitated. She now had straightened hair, a black spider web tiara on her head wearing a dark Gothic dress wearing bulky high heels wearing fish net stockings on her legs.

            “I CAN’T BELIEVE WE’RE GONNA DIE!!” Jaya suddenly bellowed, kicking her feet in the air.

            “Jaya, shut up!” Bethany bellowed. “We’re gonna get out of this!”

            “Yeah, Yasmine’s gonna win this race for sure.” Rachel said.

Jaya looked at Rachel in shock, soon groaning towards the sky and nearly balling her eyes out.

            “JAYA I SAID SHUT UP!” Bethany bellowed angrily. They suddenly froze when they heard the door open. They turned only seeing Love Machine appear, two rather bulky avatars on each side. He cackled at the sight of Sarah’s terrified face and the other three girl’s glares.

            “Chi, chi, chi, morning princess.” Love Machine greeted. He waved his bodyguards off and they disappeared through a door, which closed behind them.  

            “Listen chibi, let us go or face the wrath that is my boot!” Bethany said her spiked, heeled boot ready to kick him. Love Machine merely cackled, playing with the gear in his hands.

            “Don’t even bother, and don’t call me chibi.” Love Machine said, jabbing Bethany in the stomach. Bethany braced herself to kick him but Love Machine only said “Hurt me and you kill millions.”

            “Bethany, come here.” Rachel said, she was afraid what Love Machine said was true. Bethany glared and returned besides her friends. Love Machine cackled again and said “Not enjoying the show?”

            “We already know Yasmine’s gonna win.” Rachel said.

            “…We’ll see.” Love Machine said.

They suddenly heard thumping from the other side of the door, the door being bumped against as if a fight was going on on the other side. The door banged as if ready to give out. The door was suddenly broken in two, a large mace in the middle and aggressively bashing its way through it. Riley suddenly came in, Siana and Tallon behind him.

            “Amazing what they leave around here!” Riley said.

            “Riley?” Jaya asked.

            “Jaya!” Riley said happily and dashed towards her, embracing her in a hug. Love Machine’s eyes widened in shock at the three teenagers.

            “You’re alive?” Love Machine said.

            “Yup, now die!” Siana said, she raised a sword in the air. So many things were happening at once, Siana and Riley coming at Love Machine with weapons, Tallon trying to get the others together and out the door, Sarah screaming when the bodyguards coming in and Love Machine unleashing his black Time Gear. But everything slowed suddenly, when a searing loud alarm went off along with the voice over crying AND IT’S OVER!
