A Chapter by Imagination-mage

“Rylie get down!”

            “Bethany, above you, quick dive!”

Bethany dived to the ground, rolling on her side and seeing a dragon zip by and only get a few strands off hair. Bethany got up and grabbed her spiked mace and hit a dragon making it fly to the side and collide with another. The two plummeted to the cliff, retreating back to its land. Rylie was then grabbed by the arm and the dragon lifted her up. Rylie tried punching at the dragon, digging into her pocket and pulling out a silver gun. As the bullet flew, the smoke formed a skull hitting the dragon in the wing. It fell, releasing Rylie who jumped into the tree and watched it plummet.

“The castle’s burning!” Bethany cried. “Put it out, put it out!”

Rylie rose her hands as if pushing up a weight and a wave of water came, putting out the fires as it drowned the dragons, who couldn’t get out fast enough. Bethany went around saving those who were unable to swim to higher ground. The dragons suddenly retreated back to where they came from. Everyone cheered but Rylie and Bethany were on high alert.

“BEHIND YOU!” cried a five year old, pointing a shaking finger. Rylie turned, seeing an ash mist appear behind her. Suddenly, a hand appeared and grabbed Rylie around the neck, chocking her. Bethany quickly raced to her, her mace ready to strike.

“THE DRAGON QUEEN, SHE’S RETURNED!” screamed an old woman. Yasmine suddenly appeared from the mist, chocking Rylie and throwing her at Bethany. Yasmine’s eyes were red and she roared at the sky, fire suddenly following behind. Rylie and Bethany’s eyes widened with fear as the wave came at them….

Sarah was sweating bullets when she woke up the next morning. She looked at Yasmine who still sleeping in such a peaceful way that Sarah found it hard to believe that she was on the verge of killing all who stood in her path. But she was happy about one thing, both Bethany and Rylie were alive somewhere on this bizarre place and she knew that Rachel and Jaya were too. Yasmine soon opened her eyes and stretched like a cat, the dragons awakening as well. The two headed one nudged her and received a stroke on the side of his or her head.

“Ohayo Gemini.” Yasmine said as one of the heads licked her cheek. She turned to Sarah and smiled.

            “Morning Sarah.” Yasmine said brightly.

“M-Morning.” Sarah said sheepishly, rising from her spot and going outside. Yasmine looked confused and got up, following Sarah outside. The sun was shinning and the mist was clearing away.

“What’s wrong Sarah?” Yasmine asked. “You should be excited, today’s the day you get to go out and become a doctor!”

“Oh, just had a nightmare.” Sarah said bluntly. “But it looked so real.”

“What was it, dreams are always so amazing.” Yasmine said.

“Well I saw Bethany and Rylie, protecting a kingdom from dragons.” Sarah said, she heard Yasmine growl from the thought of Bethany and Rylie killing off dragons. “They were killing all of them and then you popped out of the ash mist and…and…”

            “And what Sarah?” Yasmine asked.

“You…were trying to…kill…them.” Sarah said, holding back tears. Yasmine stared blankly at her and put her hand on Sarah’s shoulder. Yasmine pulled Sarah in until Sarah’s head rested on Yasmine’s shoulder. Sarah was shivering and Yasmine said “I won’t kill them…”

“But what if you do?” Sarah asked.

“But I won’t.” Yasmine said, holding up her pinky. “I pinky promise, even swear on my life!”

Sarah looked at Yasmine’s pinky then intertwined hers with Yasmines. Yasmine smiled then got up, pulling Sarah up as well. Separating their pinkies, Yasmine said “Then no matter what I won’t kill them! Now let’s get you ready shall we?!”

The dragons were all behind her, all looking happy. They had helped pack Sarah’s things and had a notebook full of paper for notes and letters. Hiccup went up to Sarah and Yasmine patted him on the head.

“Be safe.” Yasmine said as the two flew off into the sky.

* * * *

Sarah and Hiccup had made it to Berk safely. Hiccup stayed in the forest, watching Sarah go off into the town. Sarah gave Hiccup one last pat on the head and in response, Hiccup hiccuped making Sarah laughed.

“Goodbye Hiccup.” Sarah said and dashed off inside Berk hearing Hiccup take flight once again back to Yasmine. Berk was bustling with people and Sarah tried very hard to get the nerve to talk to someone. She then bumped into a familiar face.

“Oh hey…uh….” He said trying to get her name.

“Sarah.” Sarah said. “Nice to see you again Brandt.”

Brandt just gave a chuckle and said “What brings you back here?”

“Well I wanted to be a doctor for my friend; she’s off raising…..lizards….” Sarah lied.

“Lizards?” Brandt asked. “That’s sort of weird you know.”

“Yeah, she’s all about it though.” Sarah said. “So know any doctors that could train me?”

“Uh sure…uh, follow me I guess.” Brandt said and led her deeper inside of Berk. Sarah looked around, seeing dragon heads all over signs, each growing bigger and bigger. But there was one dragon head that they didn’t have.

“You’re missing one.” Sarah pointed out.

“Yup and that’s the Nightfury.” Brandt said. “Some day I’ll get it to prove that I’m not a good for nothing klutz.”

Right on cue, Brandt managed to knock over a whole stack of shields making them collide with the swords and axes which scrapped against the mallets. Everyone glared at Brandt who said gloomily “I’ll fix it.”

Sarah helped Brandt load the weapons on a wagon and pulled it towards the town doctor. Brandt knocked on the door and the door was torn off its hinges, a man swinging from his door frame and standing in front of them, roaring. Brandt and Sarah were nearly blown off their feet.

“What can I do for ya?” he asked, taking spectacles out and looking down at Brandt. “Did you give yerself a third degree burn again?”

“No I’m here with someone who wants to learn to be as good of a doctor as you.” Brandt said, pushing Sarah forward. “Sarah this is the town doctor Stein, specialized in any type of anatomy for both human and animal. He’s known all over Toradora always called to the king when one of his sons are sick or something.”

“That is right my darling.” Dr. Stein said, straightening his glasses. “I am often called from town to town and I’d like an apprentice, are you interested?”

            “Yes.” Sarah said.

“Then you are accepted but I won’t only teach you the ways of medicine but also how to fight!” Dr. Stein said, holding up his fist. “Brandt I’ll need to examine all weapons!”

“Well…..” Brandt said, gesturing to the wagon filled with scratched or broken weaponry that he caused. Dr. Stein massaged his forehead and said “You’d better get back to your father Brandt, your brothers looking for you.”

Brandt sighed miserably and said “But she’ll be there!”

“Go Brandt.” Dr. Stein said and Brandt left, rather angry about returning home. Sarah stared at his back till he disappeared over the hill. Sarah returned her attention to Dr. Stein who welcomed her into his home. He grabbed the door and put it back in place.

“Where do ya live girly?” he asked.

“Uh….on the other side of Toradora.” Sarah said.

“Oh that far and how long do you plan on staying here?” Dr. Stein asked.

“As long as it takes.” Sarah said.

Dr. Stein sighed and said “I have an extra room for you but will your parents mind?”

“I don’t…have…any…” Sarah lied. “It’s just me and my friend; we live in the wild because the kingdom didn’t like us. My friend always stole food from the rich and gave to the poor like Robin Hood.”

“Well that’s a pity.” Dr. Stein said with a cough. “Why do you want to be a doctor?”

“She’s sick and I got lucky with curing her, I want to be an expert.” Sarah said. “Just in case!”

“Well that was defiantly corny but touching.” Dr. Stein said. “I’ll teach you as much as I can and train you to fight as well. Just because you’re a doctor doesn’t mean you can’t fight.”

Sarah put on a smile that brightened up the room. Dr. Stein then put a nurse’s hat on her head with a small red cross on it and said “Let’s get started then, hope you brought a large note book.”

Sarah finished her first day of training, going into the guest room Dr. Stein was kind enough to lend her till her apprenticeship was over. Sarah’s hair was in a tight bun, her hair sticking out and wearing a pink dress with a white apron wearing long white stockings and to stand out, large black boot with fur around the rim. Sarah made her way towards her bed and fell in it, dropping her notebook completely filled with notes and ingredients. She rolled herself over and looked at the ceiling finding glow in the dark stars stuck to them. She sighed and said “What a day…”

She then heard scratching at the window. Sarah turned and found Tiny there scratching at the glass. She opened her window and Tiny climbed up her arm and rubbed its head against Sarah’s cheek, a letter was folded around his collar. Sarah picked him up and set him down on her desk, taking out a small fish and he ate it whole. Sarah opened the letter finding it scorched at the sides and yellow looking old but Yasmine’s writing was still legible.

Dear ---.

Well I hope you’re having a better time then I am. Gemini are fighting with each other and refuse to even look at each other! Guess that’s one of the horrors with having your brother or sister put on one body. Aside from that, the dragons have been feeling agitated so we might have to move, I feel it too. It’s so weird. But we have to move quick, two months from now it’ll be mating season and I’ll need to find a good volcano that’s both hard core yet romantic. Oh well, I can’t wait to see the little ones! Plus I’ve noticed numbers increase every morning, like new dragons and I have to come up with names for them. We have five new ones, Cedric, Phoenix, Angelica (she’s a brat but a sweetheart towards me), Lyra and last Alyssa. Well it’s quiet and Hiccups always agitated about me sending letters so make a codename and don’t worry, I’ll know it’s you, I know your scent already.

Love

The Dragon Queen

P.S. Hiccup doesn’t seem the least bit interested in finding a soul mate!

Sarah got out a nice paper, seeing Tiny sniffing around for more fish. She thought about her note and began to write.

Dear Dragon Queen,

Well my first day was filled with all types of things I have to memorize by tomorrow so wish me luck. I saw Brandt again and I sort of feel bad for him, he’s always pushed around by everyone. What do you think? Anyway I learned a lot for one day and I can already treat burns, get rid of poisons and make all types of medicines! And give Hiccup time he just hasn’t found the one yet I guess. Write back and hope I’ll be able to find your new home once this is over.

Love

Nurse Joy

Sarah laughed at her little codename. She tied the note around Tiny’s collar and showed him to the window. He flew, disappearing in the night sky.  Sarah yawned and soon passed out in her bed, another dream approaching.

There's hardly a point of making a codename if you make it 'The Dragon Queen', but seeing as how she's as flambouyant as she is, it's not a big surprise. Yet another great chapter, I've never lost interest in the story with any of them.
