Chaptire Ten

A Chapter by Imagination-mage

The morning sun began to set on planet Sarunia, all the Sarunian citizens getting ready to retire to bed. All in the kingdom was quiet, till the castle doors for the royals suddenly opened. A hooded figure peaked out the door, looking around the garden, her hand grasping the wrist of a much younger hooded figure. They raced down the garden, trying to avoid being seen. Once they came to the center, they removed their hoods revealing the queen Lenora and her sixteen year old daughter Kana. The pulled off their hoods and tossed them in a bush. Kana had her father’s hair, short and fluffy almost, kept under a large beret with long droopy ears on the sides, wearing a baggy yellow shirt and tight black jeans, skater shoes on her feet. Her mother straightened herself out and cupped her daughter face in her hands, they had matching eyes.

“I’m gonna be fine meema.” Kana said, smiling.

“I know, let’s pray and hope your father won’t notice your absence for the next twenty years.” Lenora said, getting a laugh out of Kana. She shushed her, Kana looking back, the castle lights were still off.

“Now go to Earth and assist your brother with everything he needs.” Lenora said, once again straightening out her clothes, a force of habit. Kana slapped her mothers hands from her clothes and said “Only things that involve the sea demons daughter.”

Her mother suddenly clasped matching silver wrist bands on her wrists, adjusting the hat a bit so Kana’s cat ears wouldn’t show.

“Be careful.” Lenora said and kissed her daughter on the forehead. Kana looked at her hands, seeing her beginning to disappear. She looked like she was turning into little stars, each one going into the sky. Lenora wiped her eyes and waved as Kana fully disappeared.

“Lenora.” A voice said, catching her by surprise. She turned finding Alphonse revealing himself from the bushes. Lenora backed away saying “Oh hi honey, isn’t it a beautiful night tonight?”

“Lenora.” Alphonse said more strictly. Lenora finally surrender, her shoulders slumping and she looked to the ground mumbling “You saw me transport our daughter to Earth?”

“Yup.” Alphonse said, with crossed arms.

“What’s my punishment this time?” Lenora asked, expecting this.

“Nothing actually, just for you to sleep with me.” Alphonse said, taking her wrist.

“Just go to sleep?” Lenora asked.

“Yup, I knew you’d send our daughter to Earth.” Alphonse said. “She’ll be needed.”

Lenora hugged the back of her husband and kissed his head- having to stand on her toes just to reach- and whispered “They’ll be fine.”

Lali was currently running for her life in the forest, she had stopped screaming when she had entered the forest. She was now focusing to find a safe place and pray her remaining family members would come soon. She began to slow down, looking around the area cautiously. She was breathing heavily now, grasping her chest desperately.

“Oh Lali!” a voice screeched into the night. Lali turned, seeing a figure in the moon. A scythe gleamed and beamed down to earth like a spotlight till it hit Lali, turning red. The figure turned, sharp teeth glittering as she smiled.

“There you are!” the figure screeched.

“What did I ever do to you!” Lali screamed back and ran again. She fell to the floor as the figure swooped in, barely missing her by her long hair. Lali forced herself up, the adrenaline keeping her alive. She ran the other way till she came to a wide river, stopping short. Lali always tried her best to stay away from any type of water from oceans, to rivers, to ponds to puddles. She trembled when she tried to get over it, only to retreat.

“I can’t do it…” Lali said till she felt herself being tackled into the water. For the first few seconds, Lali panicked as she felt the oxygen leave her lungs and some blade was found at her neck. Lali was forcibly brought back up and felt herself being lifted into the air.

            “Wha-what, I’m flying?!” Lali asked.

“No you dimwit I’m flying!” A fierce voice said.

Turning she came face to face with Bubbles who just smirked down at her. The blade was being pushed into her neck and Lali whimpered a bit, knowing if she screamed she’d be killed.

“Wha-what do you want from me?” Lali asked.

“What else, your head or better yet your soul.” Bubbles said, pressing the blade more to her neck.

“Please, at least tell me what I’m being killed for.” Lali begged.

“For what your stupid ancestor did to me over a century ago!” Bubbles screamed angrily in her ear.

“You believe that story?!” Lali asked. “I highly doubt my ancestor would be able to take down a demon of amazing strength!”

“Well she did with her bloody dark magic!” Bubbles said. “Now you’re gonna pay for it! I’ll return back to my home planet with your head on my scythe and your soul in my Death Book!”

Reaching in her pocket, Bubbles took out the mighty Death Book which pulsed in her hands. Opening the book, it began to suck in air as if trying to suck out Lali’s very soul. Lali coughed horribly, shutting her eyes tightly as she went through her life.

Mother…Help me…Lali pleaded. As if answering her prayers, Lali found herself in the same dark place she was in during the plane crash. She heard a sort of cackle from behind only to find her mother standing before her.

Just couldn’t wait to see me could you sweetie? Suro asked, welcoming Lali with a hug. Lali just stood there awkwardly as she pushed away from her mothers embrace.

So…what is it that you need? Suro asked, sitting down, a chair made of ice appearing under her. Another chair was made behind Lali but Lali remained standing.

“I’m gonna die mom.” Lali said her fist over her heart. Suro looked a bit shocked and asked why is that?

“The grim reaper is here to take my head.” Lali replied suddenly hearing her mom start laughing quietly then throwing back her head in laughter. Once her mother had finished laughing, she replied You have the power to defeat her, your just too scared to embrace it. Don’t push it away.

            “But…I’ll hurt people…” Lali said.

Suro got up, the chair melting and approached Lali. She hugged Lali again and said You just need to control it, you’re a fast learner aren’t you? You won’t hurt people sweetie, unless you anger me of course…

Lali got out of her hug and said “Unless I anger you?”

Lali I am your mother you will do as I say. Suro said, telling her it was a hard fact Anger me and you will suffer the consequences. I don’t care how much you beg me to spare the lives that brought you to whatever problem your in, they will be taken out of your life as your punishment. Do you understand?

“That’s not fair though!” Lali said till she felt her mom pinch her cheek with her long nails, causing blood to flow down her cheek. Lali found herself crying as she tried to make her mother let go.

“That hurts, ow that really hurts!” Lali said through sobs.

Tell me you understand then… Suro requested.

“Okay, okay!” Lali sobbed. Suro released her grip on Lali’s cheek, licking her finger and rubbing the blood mixed saliva on Lali’s cheek which healed the wound.

Now…Fight! Suro commanded sending Lali back to reality. Lali was suddenly thrown to the floor and hit her head hard against the ground. She rubbed her head and felt her head, she was bleeding. Lali wiped her nose, realizing she was crying.

“So weak!” Bubbles said angrily. “I was expecting a better fight!”

Lali got up and growled. Her eyes were like her mothers and her teeth were like a sharks. Her smile gleamed in the moon light and she let out an evil cackle. She got up and wiped the blood from her lip. Lali just continued to chuckle non stop.

            “What’s so funny?” Bubbles sneered.

“Nothing.” Lali replied, still chuckling darkly. She motioned Bubbles to come towards her and said “Come.”
