A Poem by Ima
"

When the lights go out one by one, and you still can't close.

"

The dogs howl along with the roosters

too early in their summons. Moon hanging

against the dark collarbone of night: all sounds
detract from the silence that inks everything
black. The space between breaths catches me
more real as I curl against the hours, hovering
between the unswimmable ocean that is sleep
and this cardboard season of stardustmoonlight
trapped by glass. There is no sun to cast anything
in diagram. We hover through realities, and dream
ourselves into waking.
