Clarity

A Poem by Awaken the Sleepwalker

Her dark goldenrod hair conceals her eyes.
A slight shimmer can be seen
when candlelight catches them
The different shades of colors burn like the flame
Not even words, which used to be silver bullets,
can prickle her emotions like a thistle now
She has a tough exterior. She is impenetrable
She's not living the dream, but she's living in one
Smoke from the candle grows larger every moment
as the flame jumps around singeing everything it touched
like the embers were attendees of a jamboree
smog rolled from the windows, creating dusk.
An unpleasant picture unfolds
The river of graffiti on the side of her home
burns away, slowly engulfing like obsessed with languor
She'll be just fine... She'll never have a meltdown again
