respect me

respect me

A Poem by Daisha

It's not always about love, it has nothing to do with romance
Pick-up lines don't exactly make my heart dance
I'm not waiting by the phone all day, frowning when it's not you
It seems that you forget that I have a life of my own too
I too have a brain; ask me a question I'm smart as a whip
My heart is not a toy so don't try to play with it.
I don't giggle and flip my hair when something confuses me
So don't act surprised when I express my opinion freely

And stop calling me "baby" all the time, I have a name--please use it.
The world can see me unlike you who only cares about amusement
And when I'm with you stop staring at all those random girls passing
I can't even get a word in cause your music's forever blasting.
I'm a woman, yes it's obvious but it seems you need reminding
Treat me with respect or get out of the way and stay behind me.

Good wisdom in your poem. Young and old men need to read. I had five sisters who taught me to respect woman or get beat up. A outstanding poem.
