Desert Moon

Desert Moon

A Poem by Billy Sullivant

Deserted in the sierra.
Vultures buzzing about.
Mirages sprinkling the land.
The sun beginning to bury itself,
as you call for the God
that you abandoned.

Village ashes to the ground.
Bones rolled up by freaks.
Screams shattering the silence.
Reflections of the past.
The noise awaking the fear
bottled in the brain.

Calling for the remembered.
Footprints dragged across the sand.
A woman masturbating in the lines.
With the desert moon
settling in the empty sky.
Roam forever, oh, forsaken murderer.
