Talisman

Talisman

A Poem by Abhra

This is as much about nothing.
As it is about things that do not feature.
This is about all the commas,
pauses in speech and the halts in breath
a poem can muster.

A poem made of words that tread and pause.
Pause and remember.
Kiting somewhere between
forgetting and giving up.

This is a place rife with sentences
that run like railway tracks and disappear into interstices.
Sometimes you come across
an unhurried bunch of yellow flowers beside them.
As a reminder.

This is a poem about many things.
About digressions.About being careless like rainfalls.
About drawing silence contemplating the different ways
in which I cannot say I love you.
About all the instances in which a poem travels to you
but falters to knock on your door.

Amazing lines here. Stanza two ..man, I've been here, felt this. And the last stanza feels like every poem I try to write, "About drawing silence contemplating the different ways in which I cannot say I love you." but In my case I do, and i'm not sure if you are trying to say that you do love her/him but can't say it or that you don't and she's just not getting it through your poems as the last two lines might suggest. incredible write, it truly is a shame you do not write more.

When you love someone's work, you lose the ability to say anything constructive or worthwhile. I really dig your talent. Which, is neither constructive nor worthwhile, but it is at least accurate.

Just clever. The concept hooked me. The poem conceives itself? You're writing about the poem you're writing, right? and the metaphors were very cool, then in the last stanza you carry the poem right-up to the front door of the one who inspired it. I liked this.
