Poet's TreeA Poem by Elijah Michael MaddenThe journey and stream of consciousness of the poet as he explores his reality. He sat solitary Beneath the Poet Tree Living and observing Through the poets b'fore he Fly East to meet Laozi Where the truth could be seen Man's eternal folly 'Cause the wise man that knows naught knows there's only pain to be had. The whole of mankind is trying to find anything to fill that hole in their mind It's so sad, they think their soul's a hole, but it's already full. Now ride the highway West Where I buried my chest God is dead, killed by Nietzsche Chivalry is drenched in red, beheaded, and in his stead, is just a bed But does that really mean a thing, or is this all in your head? Led Zep zippity zed, what was it I just said? (It's all in your head) A nihilist's analysis: it must be nice to be dead; to get out of my head. Climb through the tidal wake To meet an old friend, Blake On the shores he awaits In a dark cave this world was made, it is true, but also in it is you Your self, a spectre too, the creator of "truth" without a clue. Now in your view, the divinity of unity, pervades humanity And it's up to you to choose to open the Doors to Golgonooza So stand free Knowing "me" It's the only thing I need to believe 'Cause we're all dying under Poet's Tree
