A Chapter by Idyllwyld
"

"Legends are our way of explaining things greater than ourselves."

"

March on, my friends!

Life's too weak to kill ourselves

Embrace our anger

We'll walk alone.

It's time you know

We go to war.

Though we wield powers awesome

It'll be a long trail before we're free

again.

We'll be burned long before we're buried.

And left for carrion and swine.

Our achievements shall be forgot,

And we shall be demons forer'er more.

Why do we fight?

We know we'll lose.

Why do we fight?

This war's no longer ours.

This world is moving on, friends,

And we're the scapegoats.

Just wonder what we've gotten ourselves into...

I wonder, you know, what awaits us.

The mind is willing.

Will the soul remain?

What's been done cannot be un'.

And now we can't ev'r go home.

But if we don't fight, no one will.

It's up to us to stall for time.

Lift yourselves from here below.

Embrace the anger,

We walk alone.

It's up to us,

Perhaps they'll learn.

We must pave the way.

We're far more than

Three-hundred strong.

So come, my brothers,

My sisters,

My kin.

So come, my teachers,

My students,

My friends.

So come, us all.

We have work to do.

We'll lift it all from here below,

Embrace the anger

And bring it on home.

So set your eyes upon the road

I know the Abyss stands before you

I know it's staring you up, and down

But when it's time, walk forward.

In the end we'll be free again.

At the end, we'll be one.

So when it's time, walk forward,

Don't fear the void.

The mind is willing

The soul remains

In the end, it all brings itself home.

So set your sights upon the sun.

I'll see you at the Tower.

Author's Note

Idyllwyld
Partly inspired by "Propane Nightmares," by Pendulum. It's a fantastic song, go listen to it and buy it.

All rights of theirs are reserved, by them.

A poem, "Bring It on Home;" my small tribute and salute to the void mages. At least they got to escape, in the end, before that world moved on. But still, I hope to meet them, my comrades, again someday.

I liked this very much. It speaks of all wars and how the individual feels that they are a pawn in someone else's war but since they believe in the cause they feel that if they die their part won't be in vain. I love the line "Embrace the anger, we walk alone". Very powerful and full of passion.
