'All Is Not Well In the Land of Denmark'

'All Is Not Well In the Land of Denmark'

A Poem by Idyllwyld
"

If one side is the equation isn't wrong, then something must be off somewhere else. Right? Why do things not add up? And why does it feel like we're going in the wrong direction?

"

Ever feel like you're on the losing side?

That despite all your work, and the people beside you

That maybe you all aren't going to make it?

Ever feel like you're failing?

That yet another thing is going to unravel

Or maybe just the steam's finally gone out?

Ever feel like this is the darkest time before the dawn?

And you're just hoping things are going to get better

But you know hoping for miracles won't bring one.

-------------

I'm failing, again and again, I said.

So stop, they told me.

Do I wish it upon myself?

Is this the subtle melancholy I used to entertain?

Things are not going wrong,

but they feel like the odds are stacked against.

Look around, and look inside,

and sense that something is amiss.

What could it be?

I usually proofread my works, however as always I'm sure there are typos and syntax errors. I appreciate any and all notices of that, and will work to correct those. If I haven't do know that I did acknowledge your notice and try implementing it, but found that it detracted from the effect I wanted and so omitted it.

"Do I wish it upon myself?". That is indeed a powerful question, and also a profound statement. Whether or not we realize it -- what we do or become -- we have either wished upon ourselves -- or believed to be true. There are different reactions to that statement. Some acknowledge it as true -- others are angered by it because of the hopelessness that exists throughout the world in ways that seem impossible to escape -- especially when based on natural conditions.

Impossible is a flimsy word, but a powerful one if it is believed. Because of the fear that we have encased ourselves in -- we are what we are and it is what it is. Whether that be on a large or small scale. One person, or a million.

I'm running on -- over one line. LOL Powerful and profound write. Well done!!
