2006 Thanksgiving

2006 Thanksgiving

A Poem by Idyllwyld
"

My list of what I was thankful for in 2006. Compare this not for what I wrote for my '07 Thanksgiving. Oh, how things in my life have changed. It almost hurts to look at this. But back then, and even now (and probably forever still) I still mean everythin

"

Thank you, for the stars in the night sky, for the sun and the moon.

Thank you, for the glory of sunrise and the triumph of sunset.

Thank you, for brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters.

Thank you, for homes, for the journey, and the destination.

Thank you, for angels and demons.

Thank you, for happiness and despair.

Thank you, for enemies.

Thank you, for friends.

Thank you, for war and peace, for the olive branch and the sword, so that by each of them we will grow to appreciate the other.

Thank you, for Truth and ignorance.

Thank you, for wisdom.

Thank you, for strength.

Thank you, for foolishness.

Thank you, for weakness.

Thank you, for love and hate.

Thank you, for finding the one and only true Name that is my own.

Thank you, for falls and for transcendence.

Thank you, for mortality.

Thank you, for immortality.

Thank you, for breaking bread with those that I care about.

Thank you, for sleeping next to those that I love.

Thank you, for the Beauty that is the forest and the desert, the fields and the wastes, the cities and the bloodied battlefields.

Thank you, for knowing what I love, what I will fight for, what I will die for.

Thank you, for trials.

Thank you, for being brought closer to being made whole.

Thank you, for the starless night sky and the cloudless day.

Thank you, for the abysses of the seas and the majesty of mountains.

Thank you, for magic. For what shouldn't be, but is.

Thank you, for not needing anything.

Thank you, for listening.

Thank you, for understanding.

Thank you, for being there.

Thank you, for all there is.

I raise my glass to you all at this table. Cheers.

I usually proofread my works, however as always I'm sure there are typos and syntax errors. I appreciate any and all notices of that, and will work to correct those. If I haven't do know that I did acknowledge your notice and try implementing it, but found that it detracted from the effect I wanted and so omitted it.

Nice poem. I can vocalize those same "Thank Yous" today. I am glad you brought this out because this is an everyday poem not just a holiday poem.

After reading the reviews by you, of my work I had to try and see you through your eyes--looking out. I expected something different ( I don't know why), maybe because this doesnt feel like you. However, at the end, I too looked out at the table of people with my glass held high...wondering who in the hell are you.

I enjoyed the sentimentality of the poem though.
