All You Are

Carry in, all your doubt,
Take off your shoes do as you please,
Say hello, don’t be afraid,
Greet all your friends and enemies,

Breathe in, a wall of noise,
Take up a dreaming effigy,
You saw her stare, hey what’s her name?
Her eyes they soak your mind in bleach,

Stumble cross, don’t screw it up,
Churning sea of flesh and drunk,
All you are, is all they see,
Just crack a smile shake off the funk,

You’ll never be,
You’ll never be,
What she sees,

Kill the pain, feel the strain,
Wallpaper nicotine and gloom,
Her green barrette, mesh and rosettes,
The smell of booze and cheap perfume,

She’ll never be,
She’ll never be,
What you see,

Enjoy the stupor haze,
The pleasant daze,
Skin on skin, flannel on lace,
Her tickling breath, lips on your face,

Take the night, turn off the light,
Her glasses broke, just thrown aside,
Just give in, but don’t give up,
Tossing turning, spill your cup,

You’ll never be,
You’ll never be,

All you are, is what they see.
