Red Violet

Red Violet

A Poem by Rose F.
"

What is music?

"

Flashing flair
The beat moves through you veins
Pumps your blood
And leads you to an unconscious dream

The pride of your words flowing
The originality of your soul louder
The thrill of eyes running with your thoughts
The applause of one work gives you more power

Each note
Each calligraphic line of present, future, and past
Makes you fulfill the hunger of your ears
And you can feed it with a short stereo blast

My life as a country kid
My life a street punk in between a library and a park
My life as a church faker
My life is a book, a song, a work of art

My heritage, your heritage
The songs of our fathers fathers mothers mother
The deserved tears of a stubborn country
And the tears of a lover

Holidays, birthdays
My day, your day
Denying combat, army war torn hearts
And poor rich kids going astray

Beats of a city
And ones from a truck in the rural
Rocking to a ipod on a subway
Or in 20 below weather as you walk past a mural

The ball in a gym as it hits the floor
The washing machine knocking rhythmically against the house
The breaths of your true love sleeping
And the leaves crunching from the steps of a scattering mouse

What may be annoying to me
May be a musical masterpiece to you
So many beats to different drums
What is YOUR lyrical muse?

Cool. I like how the mind goes into a dreamlike state - moving through memory and vision, wherever the music takes you.

I've read through it now several times and, while I love the poem, I'm at a total loss as to how the title fits. Could someone enlighten me?

Oh, wonderful work! I loved the rhythm of this poem and the originality of the concept. Full of contradictions, but never unrealistic, this was a brilliant piece of art. My favorite stanza was:

" My life as a country kid
My life a street punk in between a library and a park
My life as a church faker
My life is a book, a song, a work of art "

So creative and full of imagery. I love it!
All in all, great work! :)
