Thank you for giving me hope,

When it seems like I have none.

For showing me that you’re always here,

Although you may be far gone.

 

Thank you for every smile,

And for every tear.

For standing up for me,

And for chasing away every fear.

 

Thank you for showing me what’s good in this world,

And for protecting me from the bad.

And thank you for holding me,

Each and every time I am sad.

 

You are my greatest inspiration,

You light up my every way,

To me you are the definition of a hero,

I want you to know that you impress me every day.

 

You’re simply the best,

It’s easier to say now than it’s ever been.

You will always hold a large part of my heart,

For now, forever and every day in between.

 

So thank you for loving me,

I know that’s the only thing that will never end.

But most of all, thank you so,

For being my truly best friend.

 

I do love you with all my heart,

And I will always be right where you are.

And if I ever get lost on my way,

I’ll just look for your shining star.

I love the beginning. This is what a true friend does. When you're down your friends picks you up and lets you know that you can still reach for the stars. With true friendships comes the flowering of love and your wrote it very elegantly.

"I do love you with all my heart,
And I will always be right where you are.
And if I ever get lost on my way,
I'll just look for your shining star."

I like the closing as well, showing no matter what happens come the future this friend, this love will always be in your heart and thoughts. Well done poem.
