i regret not knowing the events that inspired this piece. it invokes images of some serious drama. that would be my sole criticism, is it doesn't do much to move beyond these invoked images; it may just be the calm before the storm in the final line, and would like to see more of what's coming after it. the format is very interesting, as visually, it resembles the lines of a richter scale, which matches the tone of the piece, and adds another layer to the seismic activity described.
well done.
Bret, this is great! favorite part:
DON'T hold me responsible for
seismic
activity
HOW COOL IS THAT?
you do really well with the short ones. (Well, I don't know you so I don't honestly know how well you do do with the short ones, but my wife is very short and I like her alot, I better or I'm in truble...)

Oh, I forgot to ask: is your title deliberate?
The Butterfly Effect, as relates to chaos theory and stuff, is 'Effect' not 'Affect', but I was wondering if there was maybe a significance in your choice of word [?]
Like samuraipanda, this piece intrigues me into wondering what situation it is a response to.
I like how 'solid' it seems, with direct narrative voice and quirky layout accompanied by some good imagery and language. People often abuse or overuse capitalisation in their poetry, but I felt you were justified in the emphasis role it plays here...it also made this extra human [if that even makes sense haha].
